Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Anthony Beaton (ranked 4795 p4p, 5079 weight class) and Terrence Mann (ranked 583 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Anthony Beaton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Terrence Mann!
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Paul Gruel and Micheangelo Fripello.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Beaton misses with a body shot.
Beaton connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Mann blocks a leg kick.
Beaton sets himself, and Mann steps forward looking for the clinch! Beaton avoids it this time.

Mann clinches with his opponent.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
Mann stalls.

Mann ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Mann no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Beaton thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Beaton slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Beaton wants to control from the top but Mann keeps moving.

Beaton is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Beaton wants to control from the top but Mann keeps moving.
Mann really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Beaton. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Mann is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Mann bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Beaton's guard.

Beaton not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Mann has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Beaton is proving hard to escape from.

Mann got a little sloppy there for a moment and Beaton has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Mann has managed to get both his arms back between Beaton's legs - danger averted.

Beaton looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Beaton looking for a guillotine here but Mann defends easily.

Beaton had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Mann defends it easily.
Mann is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Mann loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Mann is pushing down on Beaton's leg trying to pass to half guard. Beaton is fighting to maintain full guard but Mann has managed to sneak the leg through.
Beaton gets back to full guard.
Mann wants to control from the top but Beaton keeps moving.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Mann has gone for a leg lock! Beaton slips out almost immediately though and dives into Mann's guard.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Mann tries to clinch up.
Beaton misses with an uppercut. Mann saw that one coming.
Beaton throws an overhand right that lands on Mann's shoulder, as Mann tries to avoid the shot.

Mann gets a clinch.
Mann keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Beaton's efforts to push away.

Mann has hold of one of Beaton's legs. Beaton is fighting the takedown attempt but Mann gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Beaton looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Mann has picked Beaton up and slammed him! Beaton can't keep hold of the triangle and Mann manages to pass to side control!
Beaton tries to improve position but can't.
Mann takes a little break here. Beaton wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

A control attempt from Beaton but he's now mounted!
Beaton wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mann missing with strikes from the back.
Mann wants to control but Beaton is keeping busy.
Mann is trying to stick to Beaton's back but Beaton is turning into Mann. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Mann's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Beaton.

Beaton slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Beaton happy to just control the position for now.
Mann gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Beaton performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Beaton is thwarting Mann's attempts to control the position.

Beaton works his foot free and advances to mount.
Beaton tries to control but Mann wriggling away.

Mann can't escape the position.

Beaton can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Mann is looking to escape.

Beaton is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Mann has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Mann tries to lock up and control but Beaton gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Beaton working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Mann looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Beaton! Submission of the night perhaps?

Anthony Beaton was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
