PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Cthulhu Mythos (ranked 24231 p4p, 3320 weight class) and Yves Marchant (ranked 0 p4p, 321 weight class). Marchant has chosen gandagana as his entrance music. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Cthulhu Mythos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Yves Marchant!
The judges for this bout are Francis DeMontford, Eliza Hachem and Topper Green.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Marchant is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Mythos's half guard.
Marchant seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Mythos trying to control but Marchant postures up.
Mythos wants to get back to full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Marchant moves into full mount! Mythos won't be happy about that!

Marchant takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Mythos definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Mythos is trying desperately to improve position.
Mythos stops Marchant from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better.

Marchant wants to finish this one by submission but Mythos is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Marchant.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mythos is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Marchant controlling the position easily from mount.

Marchant's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Mythos is controlling an arm, preventing Marchant from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.
Marchant tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Mythos is trying desperately to improve position.

Marchant drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Marchant is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Mythos is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Mythos looks to land a right hand but Marchant moved out of range.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mythos is trying to control the position from the bottom.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Marchant manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Mythos on his heels. He'll look to pass Mythos's guard now, I'm sure.

Yves Marchant showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. And we move into the final round!


Marchant shoots in and bounces Mythos off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Let's hope that Marchant has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Marchant has his foot on Mythos's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Mythos works his way back into a safe position though.

Mythos keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Marchant's head.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Marchant is on top in guard.

Mythos throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Cthulhu Mythos has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Marchant not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
