Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Akoni Zidane (ranked 2666 p4p, 2041 weight class) and Robin Knarren (ranked 155 p4p, 126 weight class). Robin Knarren has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Akoni Zidane!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Robin Knarren!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Gregory Folan and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Knarren lands a nice looking body shot.
Zidane takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Zidane goes for a double leg but Knarren avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Knarren continues to drive forward.
A little jabbing left from Knarren on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Knarren's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Zidane pulls guard effortlessly.
Knarren throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Zidane manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Knarren manages to get himself to full guard.

Zidane wants to control from the top but Knarren keeps moving.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Zidane got a little sloppy there for a moment and Knarren has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Zidane has managed to get both his arms back between Knarren's legs - danger averted.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Knarren has momentary wrist control but Zidane slips an elbow through the middle.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Knarren isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Zidane stacks Knarren on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Zidane!
Zidane has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Zidane wants to control but Knarren is keeping him busy.
Knarren is trying to control Zidane's posture but Zidane avoids it.

Zidane stands up and beckons Knarren to his feet.
Zidane avoids a punch combination nicely.
Knarren keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Knarren looks for the body kick but Zidane saw that one coming.

and Zidane counters with a series of strikes. Knarren will be more careful next time no doubt.
Zidane is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Knarren lands a nice shot to the body.

and Zidane cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Zidane looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Knarren is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Zidane pulls his head out easily.

Zidane postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Zidane wants to control from the top but Knarren keeps moving.
Knarren told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.

Zidane swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Knarren misses with a straight left.
Zidane drops down looking for a counter takedown but Knarren sprawls and moves away.
Zidane takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.

Zidane rushes Knarren and presses him up against the cage.
Zidane wants a takedown.
Zidane jumps guard but Knarren stands there with Zidane around his waist. Zidane gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Akoni Zidane. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Knarren avoiding damage.

Zidane breaks the clinch.
Zidane swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Knarren tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Knarren misses with a series of wild punches.
Zidane throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Knarren.
Zidane takes a swing at Knarren's ribcage but misses.
Knarren leaves Zidane with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Knarren throws a leg kick but Zidane moved away.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Akoni Zidane will probably get the nod.

Knarren stuffs the takedown attempt from Zidane. Zidane gets slowly back to his feet.

Knarren displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Zidane.

Knarren throws a right and a left that Zidane avoids nicely.

and Knarren counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Knarren lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Zidane circles away quickly and effectively.

Zidane drops down looking for a counter takedown but Knarren sprawls and moves away.

Nice body kick from Knarren.
Zidane uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Knarren.
Knarren lands a high kick!
Robin Knarren seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Knarren throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Zidane's head.
Knarren thuds a left hand into Zidane's body.

Zidane closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Zidane tries to advance to mount but can't.
You can see the frustration on Knarren's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Akoni Zidane overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Zidane is working close to his opponent, looking to work a submission by the looks of things. Oh, he's managed to get a guillotine from mount as his opponent reached up! That looks tiiiiight! Will he tap? YES, he's tapped! Impressive submission by Zidane!
