Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, David Smith! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Buck Wheat! The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, William Peck and Elvis Blanc.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Smith has managed to clinch.
Smith escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Wheat fails miserably with a takedown attempt. David Smith seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Smith throws a nice looking combination but Wheat bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Wheat wants to clinch but Smith slips to the side and Smith counters with a three punch combo that has Wheat backing up. Wheat nods at Smith to acknowledge the strikes. Smith tries a head kick but it misses.
Smith scores to the head and body with a nice combination! Wheat looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Smith lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Wheat! Smith throws a nice looking combination but Wheat bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Smith scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Smith decides to stand back up. Wheat darts in trying to clinch and Smith counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Smith slips under a jab from Wheat. Wheat wants to clinch and Smith counters by moving into the clinch.

Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Wheat uses from the top position. Smith is edging up against the cage. Wheat wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Smith has him pressed against the cage. Smith blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. Smith manages to break the clinch.

And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to David Smith. Well Smith has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win...
