Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Chris Jones (ranked 4967 p4p, 4552 weight class) and Leo Lawler (ranked 530 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Leo Lawler!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Josh West and Micheangelo Fripello.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jones fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Lawler sprawls well initially but Jones persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jones is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Lawler is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Lawler has escaped and now he's on top!


Jones looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Lawler has picked Jones up and slammed him! Jones can't keep hold of the triangle and Lawler manages to pass to side control!

Let's hope that Lawler has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Lawler looking to break Jones's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Jones remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Lawler will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

I really don't envy Jones right now.
Lawler keeps control of the position easily here as Jones tries to buck him off.

Lawler has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Jones has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
