Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Nicolas Marquette! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Lutalo Hajjar! The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Elvis Blanc and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Marquette throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Hajjar scores with a takedown into Marquette's guard. Marquette really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Hajjar connects with a couple of short punches. Hajjar controlling from the top position. Hajjar thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Hajjar's corner is telling him to maintain position. Marquette working a defensive guard here.
Hajjar working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Marquette's head. Hajjar stays in close to Marquette's body and controls the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hajjar thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Hajjar advances position into side control! Hajjar working the ground and pound from side control. Marquette is being controlled here. Hajjar throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. Hajjar scores with punches from side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hajjar working the head and body with strikes. Hajjar in side control lands a decent elbow. Marquette wants to control but Hajjar postures up. Marquette knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hajjar on the ground. Hajjar cracks Marquette with a big right hand but Marquette just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Hajjar decides to stand up, so the ref orders Marquette to his feet. Marquette slips under a jab from Hajjar. Hajjar slips under a jab. Marquette misses with a two punch combination.
Marquette moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body. Marquette lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Marquette. Marquette is breathing heavily. This has been an exciting period of action! Hajjar closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Hajjar taking a breather here. Marquette on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hajjar taking a breather here. Hajjar has hold of Marquette's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Marquette seems comfortable defending it but Hajjar has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Marquette is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Marquette is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Hajjar couldn't care less - he's delighted!
