PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Test Eight (ranked 5435 p4p, 5456 weight class) and Test Seven (ranked 185 p4p, 186 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Test Eight!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Test Seven!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, David Schapiro and Alyssa Summers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Seven closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Eight's guard.
Eight controlling Seven's posture.

Seven avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Seven looking to pass the guard.
Eight working a defensive guard here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Seven slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Seven pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Eight is keeping the position for now.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Eight working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Seven doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Seven manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Eight gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Seven counters with a head kick that drops Eight to the mat! Eight scrambles across the canvas and gets back to his feet, still wobbly!

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Seven gets caught flat footed, as Eight shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Seven looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Eight throwing strikes from guard but Seven blocks nicely.

Seven is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Eight defends well.
Seven is controlling Eight's posture.
Eight working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Seven's head.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Eight trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Seven utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Seven seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Eight drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Seven dives on top into guard.

Seven passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Seven has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Eight throws a lazy head kick
and Seven makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Eight scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.

Eight shoots in and gets a takedown into Seven's guard.
Seven trying to keep a closed guard but Eight is proving a slippery customer.
Eight is working Seven over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Seven thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Seven looking to control but Eight passes into half guard.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Test Seven dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Eight will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Eight doesn't manage to clinch there - Seven circles away.
Seven dives in and grabs Eight's left leg, looking for a takedown. Eight pushes down on Seven's head and hops out.
It looked like Eight was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Eight tries for a takedown but Seven sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Eight misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Seven.

Eight shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Eight seems to be working for a kimura but Seven defends the submission attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Seven is concentrating on defense, preventing Eight from advancing position.

Seven is trying to maintain the position but Eight is very close to passing his half guard.
Seven is trying to stand back up but Eight is controlling him
Eight trying to control from half guard but Seven is working away.
Seven wants to get back to his feet.
Seven wants to improve his position but Eight is controlling well.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Eight tries to score a power double leg takedown but Seven sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Eight somewhat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Test Eight. That's going to take a lot out of him.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Seven tries to clinch but Eight moves out of range.
Seven throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Eight.
Seven displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Eight.
Seven looks for a takedown but Eight sprawls well.

Eight changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Seven looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Seven bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!
Eight shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Seven sprawls well. Seven wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Eight gets slowly back to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Eight tries to close the distance and clinch up but Seven swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Seven tries a head kick but it misses.

Eight tries to keep at a distance but Seven has taken the fight into the clinch.
Seven can't get the takedown.
Eight wants to take the fight to the mat but Seven manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Eight breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Eight gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Seven.
Eight stuffs the takedown.
Eight with a poor takedown
and Seven counters with a series of strikes. Eight will be more careful next time no doubt.

Eight moves into the clinch.

Seven stalling against the cage.
Seven is working Eight over against the cage.

Eight pulls Seven into guard.
Seven slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Seven is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Eight is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Eight has escaped and now he's on top!

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Eight seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Test Seven showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Seven fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Eight sprawls well initially but Seven persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Eight manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Seven moves in looking to clinch but Eight pushes him off.
Eight changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Seven tries to avoid it but Eight manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Seven to the ground. Seven escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Seven with the counter takedown but Eight avoids it easily.
Eight tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Seven swivels and escapes.
Seven darts in looking for a takedown but Eight gets double underhooks and turns Seven into the cage.
Seven tries to clinch up but Eight circles away and keeps his distance.
Seven fails to land the takedown.
Seven displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Eight.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Test Eight. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Seven darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Nice sprawl there from Seven as Eight shoots in.
Test Seven seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Seven throws a head kick that half lands.
Eight takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Eight gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Eight wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Seven is now in half guard.
Seven has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Seven is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Eight is refusing to be controlled, as Seven sits in half guard.
The fighters are battling for position here. Eight manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Eight wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Seven manages to pass to side control.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Eight wants to get back to full guard.
Seven sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Eight defending well though.
Eight tries to roll over but Seven keeps him under control.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Eight shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Seven napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Seven manages to get back to half guard.
Test Eight has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Test Seven is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Eight is thwarting Seven's attempts to control the position.

And that's the end of the fight!
Test Seven comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Seven winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
