Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Carter Mullins (ranked 4885 p4p, 5655 weight class) and Derek Poundstone (ranked 523 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Carter Mullins! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Derek Poundstone! The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Topper Green and Steve Erwin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Poundstone throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Mullins's waist but Mullins gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Poundstone off to one side. A clash of legs there as Mullins blocks the low kick. Poundstone closes the distance and clinches. Mullins tries to score a body lock takedown but Poundstone shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Poundstone escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Poundstone closes the distance and clinches up with Mullins, looking for a takedown. Poundstone pushes Mullins against the cage but Mullins circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Poundstone has a takedown stuffed. Carter Mullins has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Derek Poundstone. Poundstone darts in looking for a takedown but Mullins gets double underhooks and turns Poundstone into the cage. A head kick misses from Mullins. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mullins misses with a wild combination.
Poundstone closes the distance and clinches. Mullins is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Poundstone to keep the fight standing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mullins jumps guard but Poundstone turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. Poundstone drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Mullins gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Poundstone has Mullins pushed against the cage. Mullins has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Poundstone after a bit of a struggle. Mullins really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Poundstone is struggling to control the position. Both fighters working to control the clinch. Mullins tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Poundstone's elbow. Mullins tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Poundstone turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Poundstone manages to end up in side control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mullins sneaks back into half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Mullins is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Mullins regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Poundstone. Mullins manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage. Poundstone decides to pull guard. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Mullins loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Poundstone looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Mullins stands and steps away. Poundstone gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Poundstone throws a sloppy head kick and Mullins moves out of range easily. Mullins shoots in for a takedown but Poundstone shows good takedown defense. Poundstone throws a right and a left that Mullins avoids nicely. Poundstone closes the distance and clinches up with Mullins, looking for a takedown. Poundstone pushes Mullins against the cage but Mullins circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Mullins throws a head kick but Poundstone moves out of range.
Poundstone shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Mullins defends it nicely. Mullins throwing a counter right hand but Poundstone manages to avoid it. Poundstone looks winded! Poundstone attempts a low kick but it misses it's target. The fight stays on the outside here - Poundstone looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Poundstone leaves Mullins with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Poundstone shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Mullins manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Poundstone wants to control from the top but Mullins keeps moving. Mullins not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Mullins kicks Poundstone off and gets to his feet. Poundstone tries to clinch up. The fight stays on the outside here - Mullins looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Mullins gets a double leg takedown into Poundstone's guard. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Carter Mullins will probably get the nod. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Mullins throws a sloppy head kick and Poundstone counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Mullins not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Mullins is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Poundstone won't allow Mullins to sweep him here. Mullins keeping full guard, as Poundstone tries to pass. Poundstone must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mullins is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Mullins throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. Poundstone dives in and grabs Mullins's left leg, looking for a takedown. Mullins pushes down on Poundstone's head and hops out. Mullins tries to clinch there but Poundstone circles away.
Poundstone thinks about the counter body kick. Poundstone darts in and clinches Mullins up against the cage. Poundstone tries to pull guard but Mullins forces him back to his feet, against the cage. A short uppercut from Poundstone. Poundstone is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Mullins can't fight it off and eventually Poundstone manages to take the fight to the floor. Mullins looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard. Mullins working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Poundstone. Poundstone really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mullins. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Mullins wants to get back to his feet but Poundstone is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mullins looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Mullins looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Poundstone is defending well. Mullins quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Poundstone has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Mullins celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
