PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Odd Job (ranked 1605 p4p, 3352 weight class) and Dirk Jammer (ranked 227 p4p, 444 weight class). Dirk Jammer will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Odd Job!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Dirk Jammer!
The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, Michael Johnstone and Sandra Marshall.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jammer rushes Job and presses him up against the cage.
Job blocks an uppercut.
Jammer's coach down at Tez’s Stand N Bang ! was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Jammer's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Jammer is trying to drag Job to the mat but Job just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Job jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Jammer walks away with a smile on his face. Job gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Jammer stuffs the takedown.
Jammer slips a straight right by Job.
Job tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Jammer swivels and escapes.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Odd Job. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Job looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Job looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Jammer with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Job thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Jammer keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.
Job works his way into side control.
Job wants to lay and pray for a moment but Jammer keeps working.
Job has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Jammer tries to buck Job off but Job is having none of it.
Job lands a few punches from side control.
Jammer is looking for a sweep.
Job trying to control the position but Jammer is working away.
Job definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Jammer manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Jammer is working for a kimura but Job is defending it quite comfortably.
Jammer thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Job's head.

Jammer is stalling here. Job is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Jammer seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Job has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

A bit of a lull in the action here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Job happy to just control the position for now.

Job is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Jammer is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Job wants to lay and pray for a moment but Jammer keeps working.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Job creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.

Job tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Job has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Job is chipping away with strikes.
Jammer regains half guard there - taking advantage of Job's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.
Jammer controlling the position for now.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Job landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Odd Job dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Jammer tries to close the distance and clinch up but Job swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Job will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
The fighters circling - Job throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Jammer drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Job defends it well.
Job doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Jammer ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Jammer throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Job looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Jammer is fending him off so far but Job persists. Nope, Jammer circles away and we're back to standing.
Job shoots in for a takedown but Jammer shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Jammer tries to bum rush Job with a series of wild strikes but Job uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Jammer catches Job with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Job shoots for a takedown but Jammer saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

A little jabbing left from Jammer on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.

Jammer changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Odd Job seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Job lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Job keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Jammer's head.
Job trying to control the position from guard on top but Jammer is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Job trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Jammer misses with a looping left.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Job throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Jammer lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Job fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Jammer looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Jammer pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
A little feinted left hand from Job on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.

And that's the end of the fight!
Odd Job showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Job has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
