Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jiu Jitsu (ranked 3156 p4p, 1021 weight class) and Ron Johnson (ranked 297 p4p, 111 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Ron Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Peter Branson and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson moves into range and connects with a jab.
The fighters circle momentarily. Johnson darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Jitsu uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Johnson.
Jitsu is looking to counter punch.
Jitsu's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Johnson connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Jitsu scrambles back to his feet.
Johnson looks to land a right hand but Jitsu moved out of range.
Johnson misses the jab.
Jitsu on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
A right-left combo lands from Johnson.
A left and a right from Johnson both land. Nice combination.
Johnson stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Johnson wants it to stay on the feet.
Johnson unleashes a big counter combination but Jitsu bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Jitsu takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Jitsu checks a leg kick.

Johnson swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
A looping hook to the body misses from Johnson. Jitsu does a little dance to reset his feet.
Jitsu throws a counter high kick but Johnson was just alert enough to avoid it.

Johnson lands with a kick to the temple. Jitsu shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

Jitsu moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Jitsu displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Johnson throws out the jab.
Ron Johnson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Johnson bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Ron Johnson is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Johnson throws a right hand that Jitsu ducks under and follows up with a left that Jitsu also avoids with ease.

Jitsu uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Johnson.

Johnson misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Jitsu throws a quick counter head kick but Johnson was just out of range.

Jitsu looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Jitsu has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Johnson swings for the body but Jitsu moves out of range.
Jitsu is looking to counter punch.
Johnson takes a swing at Jitsu's ribcage but misses.
Jitsu was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Johnson misses with an uppercut. Jitsu saw that one coming.
Johnson throws a right and a left that both miss.
Jitsu fails with a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jiu Jitsu. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Jitsu shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Johnson's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jitsu postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Johnson is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Johnson breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Johnson misses the shot to the body.
Good exchange - Johnson coming out on top.
Johnson throws a body punch but Jitsu moves out of range.
Jitsu went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Jitsu avoids the body shot from Johnson.
Jitsu is looking to counter with a shot to the body.
Jitsu looks for a takedown but Johnson sprawls well.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Johnson lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Jitsu has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Jitsu and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Jitsu feinted there with a counter leg kick.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Johnson bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Jitsu's head backwards.
Jitsu avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Johnson explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.

and Jitsu counters with a nice double leg into side control. Johnson won't be happy with that.
Johnson has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Jitsu is trying to get an arm triangle but Johnson is defending well.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Jitsu thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Jitsu tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Jitsu has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Johnson sneaks out the side door and pushes Jitsu away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

Johnson manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.

Jitsu gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Jitsu postures up in Johnson's guard and throws a big left but Johnson blocks it.
Jitsu has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Jitsu thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Johnson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jitsu. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Jitsu stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Johnson swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Jitsu is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Johnson doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Jitsu.

Jitsu is looking for a kimura but Johnson is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Jitsu to get the leverage.

Johnson manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Jitsu keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.

Johnson's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Jitsu takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Johnson can do anything to dispel that myth.

Jitsu drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Jitsu jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
