Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Adam Shalashaska (ranked 285 p4p, 1108 weight class) and Maurice Tillet (ranked 45 p4p, 165 weight class). Maurice Tillet is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 8 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Adam Shalashaska! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Maurice Tillet! The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, Peter Branson and Winston Alpacca.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shalashaska misses with a combination
and Tillet counters with a nice double leg into half guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Shalashaska tries to get to full guard but Tillet has control of the leg. Tillet keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Tillet working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Shalashaska is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Tillet pulls his head out easily. Shalashaska is looking for a sweep. Tillet is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Shalashaska is staying active underneath Tillet, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Shalashaska taking some punishment here, with Tillet in his half guard. Tillet lands strikes from half guard. Tillet really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Shalashaska. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Shalashaska wants to get back to full guard. Shalashaska trying to control here.
Ground and pound from Tillet. Tillet landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Shalashaska tries to roll over but Tillet keeps him under control. Tillet controlling the pace. Tillet is looking to take a break and control but Shalashaska is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Shalashaska wants to sweep but Tillet has passed to side control! Shalashaska takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Tillet cracks Shalashaska with an elbow. That is naaassty. Shalashaska manages to work his way to half guard, despite Tillet's best efforts. Tillet lands with a punch from half guard.
Shalashaska is rocked! Tillet is keen to just control but Shalashaska is a slippery customer. Oh Shalashaska is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Tillet looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Shalashaska with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Shalashaska moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Shalashaska is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Tillet is aware though and is defending well. Shalashaska seems to have got his legs back now.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Tillet working some strikes from top position. Tillet controlling from the top position. Tillet stands up over Shalashaska, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Shalashaska is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Tillet defends well. Tillet landing with the ground and pound. Tillet is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Tillet trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Tillet wants to control from the top but Shalashaska keeps moving. Shalashaska looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Shalashaska keeping moving, preventing Tillet from controlling successfully. Tillet landing some decent shots from guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Shalashaska is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Shalashaska is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Shalashaska wants to free his trapped foot but Tillet is holding on for dear life with his legs. Tillet is trying to maintain the position but Shalashaska is very close to passing his half guard. Tillet wants to get back to full guard but Shalashaska has mounted him! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Shalashaska prevents Tillet from getting the reversal. Tillet bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Tillet avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Shalashaska throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Tillet escapes and throws Shalashaska's legs to the side, diving into side control!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Shalashaska can't do much from the bottom here. Tillet is chipping away with strikes.
Tillet creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. Tillet crunches a massive hammerfist down on Shalashaska - he's out! Tillet Holds back on further strikes and jumps to his feet to celebrate with the crowd!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:47 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Maurice Tillet! Maurice Tillet is the new welterweight champion!
