CACC 207: Steel vs Simon PBP Commentary |
This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Amsterdam, with a TWGC record of 8 wins and 5 losses; Jack Blood! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 9 wins and 9 losses; Karelin Pripyat! The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Cecil Peabody and Chris Downing.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Blood moves into the clinch. Pripyat prevents a takedown attempt there.
We've been hearing reports that Blood has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. Blood is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Pripyat is defending well. Pripyat goes for a takedown in the clinch but Blood prevents it.
Pripyat has Blood pressed up against the ropes and is working for takedown. Blood manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Blood is working on a single leg takedown against the ropes. Pripyat can't fight it off and eventually Blood manages to take the fight to the floor. Pripyat looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Blood (2) vs (0) Pripyat Blood is pushing down on Pripyat's leg trying to pass to half guard. Pripyat is fighting to maintain full guard but Blood has managed to sneak the leg through. Pripyat wants to get back to full guard. Blood looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Pripyat told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Pripyat manages to get to full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pripyat not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Pripyat keeping moving, preventing Blood from controlling successfully. Blood wants to pass the guard but Pripyat is keeping the position. Pripyat is looking to cinch up a triangle. Blood throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Pripyat's body to avoid the submission. Pripyat has instead reached around Blood's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Pripyat arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
