Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alex Zaldiar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bob Richer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Alex Zaldiar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bob Richer!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Richer throws a head kick but Zaldiar moves out of range.

Zaldiar fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Richer sprawls well initially but Zaldiar persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Zaldiar trying to control from half guard but Richer is working away.

Zaldiar decides to stand up.
Richer throws a head kick but Zaldiar moves out of range.
Richer misses with a head kick.

Zaldiar shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Zaldiar was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Richer looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!
Richer looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
Zaldiar controlling the position well here. Richer rolled but Zaldiar kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
Will Zaldiar go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?

Richer just trying to survive but Zaldiar is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.
Richer is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Richer looking to stop the rear naked choke attempt by controlling the hands.
Zaldiar slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
Richer is covering up but some of the strikes from Zaldiar are getting through and doing damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

I really don't envy Richer right now.

Richer really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Zaldiar. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Richer throws a head kick that misses.
Zaldiar takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.


It looks like Alex Zaldiar has been cut.
Richer ducks under a wild hook from Zaldiar.
Zaldiar fails to land the takedown.
Richer misses the shot to the body.
Zaldiar moves in looking to clinch but Richer pushes him off.
Richer throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Zaldiar closes the distance and clinches up with Richer, looking for a takedown. Zaldiar pushes Richer against the cage but Richer circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Richer scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.

Richer lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.

Zaldiar looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
A jab from Richer misses.
Richer throws a sloppy head kick and Zaldiar moves out of range easily.
Zaldiar tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Richer swivels and escapes.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Alex Zaldiar. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Richer moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Zaldiar looks for a takedown but Richer sprawls well.

Zaldiar changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Richer tries to avoid it but Zaldiar manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Richer to the ground. Richer escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Horrible takedown by Zaldiar or perhaps it was just good defense by Richer which made him look bad.
Richer throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.

Zaldiar throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.

Zaldiar shoots in and bounces Richer off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Zaldiar prevents Richer from getting back to his feet.
Richer is trying to keep Zaldiar in close.

Zaldiar takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Zaldiar wants to clinch up but Richer keeps it at a distance.

and Zaldiar counters by moving into the clinch.
Zaldiar tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Richer looks to throw an elbow but misses.

Zaldiar manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Richer pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Zaldiar is keeping the position for now.
Zaldiar looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Zaldiar keeping moving, preventing Richer from controlling successfully.
Richer is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Richer must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
