Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lukas Wallin (ranked 3959 p4p, 6546 weight class) and Mirko Gonzaga (ranked 523 p4p, 688 weight class). Mirko Gonzaga has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Lukas Wallin's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Lukas Wallin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Mirko Gonzaga!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Reed Andrews and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Wallin fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Gonzaga sprawls well initially but Wallin persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Wallin is controlling the pace.
Wallin has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Wallin is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Gonzaga!

Wallin's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Wallin seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Gonzaga for as long as he can get away with.

Gonzaga is looking to improve his position but Wallin isn't that keen on the idea.
Gonzaga tries to hold on but Wallin pushes him away.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Wallin tries to sprawl but Gonzaga drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Gonzaga is stalling here. Wallin is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Gonzaga seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Wallin has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Wallin takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Gonzaga is really trying hard to get back to his feet.

Wallin avoids the attempt from Gonzaga to control.

Wallin definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

It looks like Lukas Wallin has been cut.

Wallin shoots in looking for a takedown but Gonzaga manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Wallin's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Wallin darts in looking for a takedown but Gonzaga gets double underhooks and turns Wallin into the cage.

Gonzaga has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Wallin regains guard immediately.
Wallin is looking to stand up but Gonzaga isn't so interested in that idea.
Wallin wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Wallin avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Wallin is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Gonzaga pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Gonzaga shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Wallin's guard.
Gonzaga won't allow Wallin to sweep him here.
Gonzaga must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Wallin is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Gonzaga frees his head nicely. Oh but Wallin has switched to an armbar! Gonzaga is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
