The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Persson looks to throw the jab but Beardsley is out of range.
Peter Beardsley seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Beardsley's jab looks to have found its range, popping Persson under the eye.
A low kick from Beardsley is predictable there
and Persson counters with a lovely straight right hand!

It looks like Peter Beardsley has been cut.
Persson takes a swing at Beardsley's ribcage but misses.

and Beardsley counters with a crisp one two that drops Persson! Beardsley thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Persson to his feet! Persson is in big trouble!

Persson takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

Persson seems to have recovered his senses.

Beardsley takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.

Persson throws the left hand but Beardsley avoids the punch easily.

and Persson counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

and Beardsley counters with a crisp right hand that drops Persson! Beardsley lets Persson back up to his feet, looking for a finish!
Persson might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Beardsley's corner calls for a 1-2. Beardsley obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Persson swings for the body but Beardsley moves out of range.
A slapping body kick lands there for Beardsley.
Beardsley cracks Persson on the jaw with a powerful right hand and Persson falls backwards against the cage. Beardsley follows up with more strikes that drop Persson to his knees. Beardsley keeps the pressure on and the referee jumps in to save Persson! This one is all over!

Peter Beardsley spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
