PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kyu Lee (ranked 4823 p4p, 3160 weight class) and Favourite Underdog (ranked 0 p4p, 124 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Kyu Lee!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Favourite Underdog!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Santiago Holmes and Bart Greer.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Underdog gets caught flat footed, as Lee shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Underdog wriggles free and stands up.
Lee avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Horrible takedown attempt by Underdog or perhaps it was just good defense by Lee, which made it look bad.

Lee throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Underdog tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Lee is in Underdog's guard.

Lee drops back looking for a leg! Underdog is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Underdog manages to kick Lee off! Lee jumps back into Underdog's guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Underdog is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Underdog might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Lee haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Lee is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Underdog working for a triangle but Lee defends it easily.
Underdog looking to hit a scissor sweep but Lee is one step ahead there.
Underdog is trying to control the position from the bottom.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Underdog is working an open guard so Lee takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Underdog doesn't manage to clinch there - Lee circles away.
Underdog wants to clinch up but Lee keeps it at a distance.
Lee seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.

Lee fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Underdog sprawls well initially but Lee persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Lee takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Lee scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Underdog is trying to get back to full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Underdog wants to control but Lee is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Lee is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Underdog reverses the position - he's now on top in Lee's guard.
Lee has Underdog pulled in close to control his posture.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Underdog wants to control from the top but Lee keeps moving.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Lee manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
Underdog looking to slow down the pace here.
A frustrated look appears on Underdog's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Underdog is trying to drag Lee to the mat but Lee just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Lee breaks from the clinch.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Kyu Lee dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Lee ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

Lee closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Underdog's guard.

Underdog pushes Lee off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Lee pushes Underdog up against the cage in a clinch.

Lee gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Underdog regains guard.

Underdog pushes Lee off and gets back to his feet.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Lee looks to land a combination but Underdog avoids it well.
Underdog fails with a takedown attempt.
Underdog tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Lee swivels and escapes.
No luck for Underdog with that takedown attempt.
Kyu Lee has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Favourite Underdog.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Underdog fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Lee bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Lee blocks a head kick by Underdog.

Lee moves into the clinch successfully.

Lee is trying to trip Underdog. He has hold of a leg but Underdog is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Lee persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Underdog uses the cage to get back to his feet.

Lee moves into the clinch successfully.

Lee escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Lee gets a double leg takedown into Underdog's guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Underdog looking for a guillotine here but Lee defends easily.
Lee passes Underdog's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Lee decides to return to a standing position.

Lee closes the distance and pushes Underdog back into the cage.
A short right from Lee.
A left hand lands to the body for Lee.

Lee turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Lee manages to end up in side control.
You can see the frustration on Underdog's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Lee stands up and beckons Underdog to his feet.

Lee clinches with his opponent.

Lee's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Lee has managed to clinch.
Underdog tries for a takedown. No joy.
Lee is looking for a takedown.
Lee has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Underdog avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Underdog jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Lee walks away with a smile on his face. Underdog gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Lee throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Underdog on the side of the head.

Lee fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Underdog, pushing him back against the cage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Lee's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Lee drives through with a takedown into guard.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Underdog manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Lee breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Underdog shoots in but no luck this time.
Underdog is looking to land body kicks.
Underdog tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Lee manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Underdog shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Lee counters by moving into the clinch.
Underdog is trying to force a seperation but Lee has the dominant position.

Lee ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Lee no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Underdog wants to control from the top but Lee keeps moving.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Kyu Lee dominated that second round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Underdog shoots in but no luck this time.

Lee darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Underdog has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Lee is on him like a limpet, forcing Underdog back against the cage.
Lee is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Underdog can do to turn this around?

Lee is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Underdog presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Lee will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Underdog up against the cage.
Underdog wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Lee slows down the pace here.

Lee breaks from the clinch.

Lee gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Lee taking a break, stalling in the clinch.
Lee scores a nice knee to the body.

Lee lands a takedown into guard.
Underdog is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Underdog has Lee pulled in close to control his posture.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Underdog is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Lee is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Lee stands and steps away. Underdog gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Lee fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Underdog sprawls well initially but Lee persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Underdog kicks Lee off and gets back to his feet.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Lee avoids a punch combination nicely.
Underdog blocks a head kick by Lee.
As Lee backs off Underdog throws a huge counter combo but Lee manages to avoid it all.

Lee feints and as Underdog raises his hands in defense, Lee changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Lee trying to control but Underdog is working from the bottom.
Lee trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Underdog trying to keep a closed guard but Lee is proving a slippery customer.
Lee content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

Underdog looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Lee thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Underdog uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Lee.
Underdog misses with the combination.

Underdog gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Lee to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Lee postures up.

And that's the end of the fight!
Kyu Lee showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Lee, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

A very excited looking Kyu Lee rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
