Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Richard Ramirez (ranked 4105 p4p, 4809 weight class) and Jack Mckenzi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ramirez comes to the cage accompanied by Get Lucky. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Richard Ramirez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jack Mckenzi!
The judges for this bout are David Hoff, Winston Alpacca and Santiago Holmes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ramirez feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Ramirez tries to free his leg and advance position but Mckenzi is retaining full guard.
Mckenzi is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Ramirez throws a big right hand that misses.
Mckenzi seems keen to control Ramirez's posture.
Mckenzi is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ramirez with a flurry of punches that miss.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Mckenzi can do anything to dispel that myth.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Ramirez accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Ramirez won't allow Mckenzi to get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mckenzi not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Ramirez drops back looking for a leg! Mckenzi is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Mckenzi manages to kick Ramirez off! Ramirez jumps back into Mckenzi's guard.
Mckenzi looking for a sweep. Not yet Mckenzi, not yet.

Ramirez throws a big right hand that misses.
Ramirez trying to control the position from guard on top but Mckenzi is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Ramirez loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Ramirez wants to control from the top but Mckenzi keeps moving.

Ramirez has gone for a leg lock! Mckenzi slips out almost immediately though and dives into Ramirez's guard.


Ramirez has his foot on Mckenzi's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Mckenzi works his way back into a safe position though.

Mckenzi throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Ramirez works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Ramirez working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Mckenzi doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Ramirez is tightening it up a little... Mckenzi has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Mckenzi reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Mckenzi taps out! Nice BJJ there by Ramirez!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:52 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Richard Ramirez!
After the fight, Richard Ramirez was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
