PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sambo Trambai (ranked 4346 p4p, 4376 weight class) and Marcos Martinez (ranked 557 p4p, 559 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Sambo Trambai!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 30 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Marcos Martinez!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Cecil Peabody and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Trambai throws a head kick that misses

and Martinez moves into the clinch.
Martinez looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Martinez tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Trambai just stands there and leans against the cage.

Martinez has hold of one of Trambai's legs. Trambai is fighting the takedown attempt but Martinez gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Trambai is pulling down on Martinez's head. It's preventing any offense from Martinez, at least for the moment.
Martinez in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Trambai keeping moving, preventing Martinez from controlling successfully.
Trambai pulls Martinez in close to prevent any damage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Martinez decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Trambai, up you get!
Trambai cracks Martinez with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Sambo Trambai seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Trambai swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Martinez gets a takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Martinez is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Trambai desperately trying to maintain half guard.
Martinez not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Trambai is controlling Martinez's trapped leg to prevent Martinez from advancing to side control.
We've been hearing good reports from Trambai's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Martinez is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Trambai has managed to free his arm - good work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Martinez wants to lay and pray for a moment but Trambai keeps working.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Martinez lands a nice short elbow.
Martinez thows a huge punch but Trambai dodges it nicely.
Martinez trying to control from Trambai's half guard. Trambai has other ideas though and has regained full guard.
Trambai keeping moving, preventing Martinez from controlling successfully.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Martinez drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Trambai manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Martinez has Trambai in his guard.

Martinez throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Trambai is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Trambai wanted to stand there but Martinez had control of the position.
Trambai stays in close to Martinez's body and controls the position.
Martinez wants to sweep but no luck.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Trambai sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Martinez not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Martinez moves forwards but Trambai connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Trambai slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
BOOM! Trambai lands a beautiful left hook that drops Martinez. Martinez tries to recover but Trambai is having none of it, landing more punishing shots from mount. One final crushing shot and Martinez lies motionless on the canvas. The fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:36 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Sambo Trambai!
Our winner, Sambo Trambai, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
