Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Adam Shalashaska (ranked 541 p4p, 1463 weight class) and Nolan Diaz (ranked 76 p4p, 207 weight class). Diaz has chosen The Stockton Slap Song as his entrance music. Nolan Diaz has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 8 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Adam Shalashaska! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Nolan Diaz! The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Winston Alpacca and Peter Branson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shalashaska moves into the clinch successfully.

Shalashaska lands with a good tight uppercut to the head. Shalashaska tightens his grip and picks Diaz up, before dumping him to the ground. Diaz manages to land in guard. Shalashaska looking to pass the guard. Diaz can't keep his opponent in guard - Shalashaska advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Shalashaska prevents Diaz from improving his position. Shalashaska wants to free his trapped foot but Diaz is holding on for dear life with his legs. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Shalashaska is working hard here to advance position. Diaz tries to roll over but Shalashaska keeps him under control.

Diaz is staying active underneath Shalashaska, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Diaz makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Diaz.

Shalashaska stands and throws Diaz's legs to the side, diving into side control. Shalashaska tries to advance to mount but can't. Diaz manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! The fighters are battling for position here. Shalashaska manages to regain full guard. Nice work. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Shalashaska tries to land a sweep but no joy. Shalashaska thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Adam Shalashaska dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. Diaz looks to land a left hand but Shalashaska moved out of range nicely. Diaz misses with a wild body shot. Shalashaska closes the distance but Diaz moves to the side and Diaz counters with a lovely straight right hand! Shalashaska moves into range and clinches up with Diaz. The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Shalashaska takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life. Diaz lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Shalashaska backwards. Shalashaska goes for a takedown in the clinch but Diaz prevents it.
Shalashaska gets a trip takedown into half guard. Shalashaska is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Diaz reverses the position - he's now on top in Shalashaska's guard. Shalashaska trying to control the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Shalashaska trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage. Shalashaska striking off his back but it's not causing Diaz any problems. Shalashaska working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Diaz doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Diaz manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Shalashaska looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Diaz puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard. Shalashaska is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Shalashaska missing with punches from the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Diaz is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Shalashaska doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Diaz. Shalashaska is looking to get back to full guard here but Diaz has managed to pass to side control instead. My spies in Muay Thai and BJJ | Clinchwork inform me that Diaz has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends! Diaz working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Shalashaska gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Adam Shalashaska overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Shalashaska tries to get to full guard but Diaz has control of the leg.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Shalashaska tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land. Diaz is taking a breather. Shalashaska says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Shalashaska makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Shalashaska. Shalashaska striking off his back but it's not causing Diaz any problems. Shalashaska bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Diaz's guard. Shalashaska slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Shalashaska tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Shalashaska has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Shalashaska advances to full mount.

Shalashaska is looking for a kimura but Diaz is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Shalashaska to get the leverage. Shalashaska tries to pass to full mount but Diaz defends it. Shalashaska passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Diaz! Diaz tries to get back to half guard but can't. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Shalashaska fails to advance to Diaz's back. Shalashaska is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Diaz can do to turn this around? Diaz gets back to half guard. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Adam Shalashaska will probably get the nod. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!
Shalashaska rushes Diaz and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Shalashaska. Shalashaska has Diaz pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Diaz manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Shalashaska has been working on his balance at Tez’s Stand N Bang !, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Diaz. Shalashaska blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

Shalashaska's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Shalashaska continues to stall. Diaz is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Shalashaska is pressing down on Diaz's thigh, looking to free his foot. Diaz is holding on for now.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Shalashaska content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Diaz doesn't land with the attempted body shot.

And that's the end of the fight! Adam Shalashaska showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Shalashaska, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Adam Shalashaska decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
