PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Affectionately Eve (ranked 7014 p4p, 24403 weight class) and Rico Salvacion (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rico Salvacion will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 8 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Affectionately Eve!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 16 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rico Salvacion!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Alan Glass and Tiny Johnson.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Salvacion fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Eve avoids it really well and circles away.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Eve enables Salvacion to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Eve manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Eve wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Salvacion manages to pass to side control.
Eve has his hands clasped together around Salvacion's back. He's all about the action.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Salvacion is trying to control the action in half guard but Eve is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Eve manages to escape and get back to his feet!

Eve closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Salvacion to the mat! Salvacion manages to get full guard.

Eve gets to his feet - Salvacion follows without any prompting.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Eve.

Eve appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick.
Salvacion shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Eve as he jumps to the side.
Eve swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
Affectionately Eve has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rico Salvacion.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Salvacion shoots in and gets a takedown into Eve's guard.
Eve wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Eve wants to get back to his feet but Salvacion is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Eve slaps away a takedown attempt from Salvacion, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Eve shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Salvacion as he jumps to the side.
Salvacion is clearly looking to counter with head kicks.

Eve closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Eve lands in his opponent's guard.

Salvacion looking to hit a scissor sweep but Eve is one step ahead there.
Eve wants to get up but he can't break Salvacion's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Salvacion is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Salvacion is defended easily by Eve.
Eve thinks about countering with a body kick.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Eve gets the takedown into side control.
Eve controlling from side mount.
Salvacion is trying to improve his position.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Salvacion shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Eve as he jumps to the side.
Salvacion tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Eve paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Eve throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Salvacion's waist but Salvacion gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Eve off to one side.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Salvacion is looking to improve his position.
Eve seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Salvacion is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Eve stalling.

Eve stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Salvacion throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Eve was covering up waiting for the punch and Salvacion finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Eve pushes Salvacion off and scrambles back to his feet.

Salvacion bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Eve sneaks out the side door and pushes Salvacion away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Eve shoots in for a double leg but Salvacion sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Affectionately Eve is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
