Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jake Askren (ranked 2782 p4p, 5581 weight class) and Mulk Visti (ranked 269 p4p, 425 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Jake Askren! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mulk Visti! The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Chris Downing and Gwen Towbar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Visti avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Askren forces Visti back against the cage and clinches. Askren is pushing Visti up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word. Askren softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage. Visti scores with a shot to the side of Askren's head. Askren lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Visti blocks an uppercut.
Askren is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Visti gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Askren has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Visti after a bit of a struggle. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Visti's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Askren lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Visti circles away quickly and effectively. Askren shoots in looking for a takedown. Visti tries to sprawl out of it but Askren keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Visti manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jake Askren. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's one minute gone in the round. Askren tries to close the distance and clinch up but Visti swats him away and circles back towards the center. Visti displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Askren throws out the jab. Nice shot by Visti. Askren clinches up against the cage. Visti doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Askren has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Visti avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Visti will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Askren up against the cage. Askren's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Askren rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Visti counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Visti displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Askren throws out the jab.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Askren fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Visti sprawls well initially but Askren persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Visti avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Askren. Visti is refusing to be controlled, as Askren sits in half guard. Visti really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Askren. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Visti is trying to stand up here but Askren is controlling him well. Askren missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Askren wants to take a breather but Visti is having none of it. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Askren working the head and body with strikes. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Visti can do anything to dispel that myth. Askren sitting and controlling from the half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Visti pushes Askren off looking to stand but Askren dives back in and keeps control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Askren passes to full mount! Askren working Visti over with strikes here. Visti wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Askren.
Askren has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Visti's face.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Askren sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it! Visti is in a horrible position here. Askren smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Visti wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Askren in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Askren raining down shots from the mount! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Askren misses with a head shot. Askren looking to control and managing it successfully. Askren thowing shots but they're missing. Askren connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Askren has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Askren can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Visti is looking to escape. Askren controlling his opponent. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Jake Askren dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Visti avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Askren tries to close the distance and clinch up but Visti swats him away and circles back towards the center. Visti's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Askren connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Visti scrambles back to his feet. Visti looks to land a right hand but Askren moved out of range. Askren blocks a head kick by Visti.
Askren tries to counter with a takedown but Visti is quick to defend against it. Visti fails with an attempt to clinch.

Visti tries to clinch up enabling Askren to counter with a crisp jab. Askren tests Visti's chin there with a solid looking shot. Visti misses the shot to the body. Visti throws a body kick that misses. Askren closes the distance and pushes Visti back into the cage. Askren tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Askren effectively controlling the action here. A left hand lands to the body for Askren.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Askren as Visti tries to tie him up. Askren is trying to drag Visti to the mat but Visti just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Visti gets underhooks to prevent Askren's takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jake Askren. That's going to take a lot out of him. Askren's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button! A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors. Askren tries a body shot but Visti blocks it.

The fighters circle momentarily. Askren darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch. Askren manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Visti on his heels. He'll look to pass Visti's guard now, I'm sure. Askren throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Askren stays in close to Visti's body and controls the position. Jake Askren overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Askren with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Askren trying to control the position from guard on top but Visti is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Askren sitting in guard here, content to control. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Jake Askren dominated that second round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards. Nice takedown defense from Visti. No joy for Askren on that attempt. Askren checks the leg kick. Askren drives through with a takedown into Visti's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Askren wants to control from the top but Visti keeps moving. Askren is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Askren with a flurry of punches that miss. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Visti wants to stand but Askren is controlling the position. Askren throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Visti works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Askren is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Askren accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Visti is looking to stand up but Askren isn't so interested in that idea.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Visti circles away from the clinch attempt.
Visti wants to clinch up but Askren keeps it at a distance. Nice defenses there by Visti. Askren lands a nice looking body shot.

Visti misses with a hook to the body
and Askren counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Askren dives in and grabs Visti's left leg, looking for a takedown. Visti pushes down on Askren's head and hops out. Visti let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land. Askren walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Askren moves out of range of the leg kick from Visti. Askren tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Visti defends well and Askren ends up having to push Visti into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jake Askren. That's going to take a lot out of him. Visti looking to stall.
Visti stalling in the clinch but Askren improves position. Visti is trying to slow the pace down but that's a couple of times in a row that he's tried to get underhooks and Askren has denied him. Good body shot from Visti.

Askren scores with a nice hook to the head. The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch. Visti tries to stall but Askren uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Askren working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely. Askren gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Visti regains guard.

Askren will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Askren lands a nice short elbow. Askren throwing shots but Visti is blocking nicely. Askren thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Askren throwing shots but Visti is blocking nicely. Well, if Askren is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

And that's the end of the fight! Jake Askren showed his dominance in that final round. Well Askren has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
