Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Bobby Reid (ranked 5430 p4p, 3952 weight class) and Zach Smith (ranked 609 p4p, 515 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bobby Reid! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Zach Smith! The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Chris Downing and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Smith looks to land a combination. Reid sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots. Smith fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Reid, pushing him back against the cage. Smith can't find room to land a body shot as Reid controls the action.
Smith creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Reid's defenses.
It looks like Bobby Reid has been cut. Smith working hard to break the clinch. Reid has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Smith avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Reid wants to take the fight to the mat but Smith manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. Reid has hold of one of Smith's legs. Smith is fighting the takedown attempt but Reid gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard. Smith wants to sweep here but Reid controlling him for the moment. Smith keeping moving, preventing Reid from controlling successfully. Smith told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Reid accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Reid throws an elbow that misses. Smith uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Reid's guard. Nice move by Smith!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Reid is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Smith slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Smith being controlled here momentarily. Smith wanted to stand there but Reid had control of the position. Reid working a defensive guard here.

That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Reid keeping full guard, as Smith tries to pass. Smith wants to control from the top but Reid keeps moving.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. Reid shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Smith kicks Reid off and gets back to his feet. Reid shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Smith as he jumps to the side. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bobby Reid. That's going to take a lot out of him. Reid fails with the takedown and Smith cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Smith throws a head kick that misses. Reid half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range. Reid scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Smith throws Reid to one side and escapes! Reid definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Reid stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Reid wants it to stay on the feet. Reid fails to land the takedown. A little jabbing left from Smith on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. Reid dives in for a single leg takedown but Smith sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Reid changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Smith fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Smith looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. A combination from Smith does no damage. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Smith darts in trying to clinch and Reid decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Smith's guard. Smith keeping full guard, as Reid tries to pass.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Reid throws a big right hand that misses. Reid seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Smith throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Reid postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Reid throws a big right hand that misses. Smith keeping moving, preventing Reid from controlling successfully. Reid is posturing up here but Smith has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Reid tries to roll out but it's too tight and Reid has to tap! Slick submission there by Smith!
