Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Doug Anderson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jaxson Powers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Powers is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: "Chase That Feeling" by Hilltop Hoods. Jaxson Powers has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Doug Anderson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jaxson Powers!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Steve Montenegro and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Anderson lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Powers circles away quickly and effectively.

Powers shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Powers showed some decent athleticism there.
Anderson has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Powers is working away from the top position though.
Anderson is staying active underneath Powers, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Anderson trying to control but Powers postures up.
Powers perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Powers gets to his feet - back to striking we go!

Powers shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Anderson wants to stand and escape but Powers is having none of it.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Powers scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Anderson doesn't seem bothered though.

Powers tries to bum rush Anderson with a series of wild strikes but Anderson uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Powers shoots for a double leg takedown but Anderson sprawls well. He's pushed Powers's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Powers looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Powers tries for a takedown but Anderson sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Doug Anderson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jaxson Powers.

Powers drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
You can see the frustration on Anderson's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Anderson seems a little lost for a moment, as Powers dominates the positioning.

Anderson takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

Powers decides to stand back up.
Powers drops his hands momentarily and Anderson takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Powers stands up out of the half guard.
Anderson throws a series of punches but Powers moves out of range.

Powers feints and as Anderson raises his hands in defense, Powers changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Powers postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Anderson pulls Powers in close to prevent any damage.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Powers has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Anderson is proving hard to escape from.
Powers throws a big right hand that misses.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Anderson throws a push kick but Powers slaps the foot to one side.
Anderson doesn't manage to clinch there - Powers circles away.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Powers can do anything to dispel that myth.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Despite being in the dominant position, Jaxson Powers just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Powers is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Anderson is keen to just control but Powers is a slippery customer.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Anderson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Powers swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Powers looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Anderson prevents Powers from getting back to his feet.

Anderson gets to his feet. Powers looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Anderson closes the distance but Powers moves to the side

and Powers counters with a nice double leg into side control. Anderson won't be happy with that.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Anderson wants to get back to his feet but Powers is dominant here and he's now got Anderson's back!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jaxson Powers showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Powers changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Anderson tries to avoid it but Powers manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Anderson to the ground. Anderson escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Powers thows a body shot but no joy.
Powers takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Anderson looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Anderson throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Powers's head.
Powers will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Anderson is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Anderson lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.

Doug Anderson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jaxson Powers.

Powers connects with a right hand. Anderson shakes it off.
Powers swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Anderson.

and Powers counters with a one-two to the body.
Doug Anderson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

and Anderson counters with a series of strikes. Powers will be more careful next time no doubt.

Anderson ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Powers moves away.

Jaxson Powers comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Powers has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
