The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Duif tries a head kick but it misses.
Da Oxlade seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Duif clinches up against the cage.
Duif can't find room to land a body shot as Da Oxlade controls the action.

We've been informed that Duif has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.

Da Oxlade swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Da Oxlade blocks a head kick by Duif.
A little feinted left hand from Da Oxlade on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Duif's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Da Oxlade connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Duif scrambles back to his feet.
Duif connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

and Duif takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Duif lands a big head kick that sends Da Oxlade tumbling to the mat! Duif takes a step backwards and waves Da Oxlade back to his feet - he wants the finish!

It looks like Fernand Duif has been cut.

Da Oxlade lands a hook to the side of the head.
Da Oxlade breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Da Oxlade lands a big head kick that sends Duif tumbling to the mat! Da Oxlade takes a step backwards and waves Duif back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Duif is rocked!
Duif moves to clinch but Da Oxlade breaks away
and Da Oxlade counters with a beautiful right hand that knocks Duif out cold! What a finish! Da Oxlade is going crazy, running around the mat, summersaulting off the corner posts and screaming into the cameras. Something tells me he's pretty happy!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:54 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Mawi Da Oxlade!
Mawi Da Oxlade decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
