Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Paulo Kogos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jess Pointer!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Stewart Dunkirk and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kogos fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Kogos ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

and Pointer makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Kogos clobbers Pointer with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

Kogos shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Pointer eats them both and turns towards Kogos to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

Pointer moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.

and Pointer counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

Kogos closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Kogos lands a shoulder strike.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Kogos takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Kogos escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Nice uppercut lands for Kogos. That snapped Pointer's head back.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Pointer shoots in looking for a takedown. Kogos tries to sprawl out of it but Pointer keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Kogos manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Kogos bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Kogos lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Kogos connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Pointer some visible discomfort.

Kogos looks up at the clock and then as Pointer takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Kogos smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Pointer takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Pointer gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Pointer is trying to maintain the position but Kogos is very close to passing his half guard.
Pointer wants to get back to full guard.

Kogos working over Pointer with some ground and pound. Pointer looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Kogos lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Kogos takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Pointer is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Kogos pulls his head out easily.
Kogos winds up and cracks Pointer with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pointer is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Kogos is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

Pointer looking to force a kimura from the bottom here. He's concentrating on that move too much though and Kogos pushes past his half guard into mount!
