Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Carlos Ruas (ranked 1187 p4p, 2121 weight class) and Yoshi Takano (ranked 39 p4p, 21 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 28 - 22 - 0, fighting out of New York, Carlos Ruas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 27 - 23 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Yoshi Takano!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Russell Pearce and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ruas throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Takano sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Takano replies with a solid counter kick to the body but Ruas blocks it well.
Ruas swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Takano counters with a body kick.
Ruas swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Takano is trying to counter with his kicks.
Takano tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Takano with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Ruas to score with a decent uppercut.
Ruas misses with a body punch
and Takano counters with a big head kick but Ruas shrugs it off.
Ruas throws a body shot but no joy.
Takano scores with a one two! Ruas had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

It looks like Carlos Ruas has been cut.
Takano tries a head kick but it misses.
Takano lands with a nice combination. Ruas backs away looking to recover.

and Takano counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Ruas throws a solid leg kick but Takano takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Ruas.
Takano throws out a powerful jab.
Takano is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Ruas loads up on a big right hand but Takano slips the punch.
As Ruas backs off Takano throws a huge counter combo but Ruas manages to avoid it all.
Takano uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Ruas.
Takano cracks Ruas with a right hand to the side of the head.
Takano throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Ruas connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Takano looks to score with a jab to the body but Ruas is just out of range.
Ruas throws a jab but it's blocked by Takano.

That kick from Takano tenderised Ruas's leg. Ruas is trying to keep his angry face on.
Ruas looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Carlos Ruas seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Takano avoids a kick to the body.

and Takano counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Takano fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Nice sprawl there from Takano as Ruas shoots in.
Ruas takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

and Ruas counters with a stiff right hand.
Ruas throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Ruas misses with an uppercut
and Takano counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.

Ruas closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Takano regains full guard. Nicely done.
Ruas stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Takano swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Ruas's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Ruas trying to control but Takano is working from the bottom.
Ruas is working Takano over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Takano wants to control the position but Ruas says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Ruas not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Ruas seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Takano does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Ruas is really struggling to control Takano but he's trying to hold on to the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ruas thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Takano's head.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Ruas stands up over Takano, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Ruas postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Ruas working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Takano is trying to control the position but Ruas postures up.

Ruas seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Our spies down at at Roosters Coop inform us that Takano has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?

Ruas has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
