Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 8 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Raymond Mboya! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 35 - 26 - 1, fighting out of New York, Paul OConnell! The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Sosuke Kotani and Tatsuya Matsuyama.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mboya throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Mboya looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Good standup being displayed there by OConnell as he connects with a hook. OConnell closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. Mboya scores with a decent looking hook. OConnell pivots, looking for a leg kick but Mboya is out of range and OConnell settles back down. OConnell lands a nice hook to Mboya's body. Mboya takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. OConnell avoids the head kick by Mboya.
OConnell closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. OConnell throws a looping overhand right but Mboya ducks down to avoid it. Mboya throws a low kick, looking for OConnell's leg but OConnell calmly moves out of range. OConnell staying out of range there. Mboya just misses with a punch to the body.
Mboya throws a hook but OConnell blocks it. Mboya scores with a slapping inside leg kick. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Mboya misses with a looping left. OConnell takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
OConnell looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Raymond Mboya seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Mboya's corner calls for a 1-2. Mboya obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mboya misses with a hook. OConnell ducked under it nicely. OConnell misses with a jab, cross combination.
Mboya was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. Mboya's hands are dropping dangerously low here and OConnell connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Mboya scrambles back to his feet. OConnell connects with a right hand. Mboya shakes it off. OConnell throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Mboya lands a nice shot that snaps OConnell's head back.
A jab from Mboya misses. A telegraphed right hand from Mboya misses the target. OConnell throws a counter combo. Mboya throws a head kick but OConnell moves out of range.
OConnell is looking for the big counter here. OConnell ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. OConnell is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own. OConnell scores with a decent looking hook. OConnell takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! OConnell swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Mboya throws a big shot that misses.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mboya moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. OConnell loads up on a big right hand but Mboya slips the punch. OConnell with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
A punch combination from OConnell misses. Mboya scores with a head kick. OConnell tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
It looks like Paul OConnell has been cut. OConnell tries to move into range but Mboya moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. OConnell throws a body shot but no joy. Mboya lands a right hook to the body.
OConnell throws a front kick aimed at Mboya's knee but Mboya avoids it well. OConnell staying out of range there. Mboya bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps OConnell's head backwards. OConnell walks straight into devastating uppercut and drops to the floor, clearly wobbled! Can he beat the count? 4,5,6,7... he's up! And he's down again! The ref steps in and calls an end to the fight! What a punch that was!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:48 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punch). Raymond Mboya! Raymond Mboya seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
