Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Karlssen Paulssen (ranked 3946 p4p, 6351 weight class) and Hamada Takeshi (ranked 466 p4p, 575 weight class). Hamada Takeshi has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Karlssen Paulssen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Hamada Takeshi!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Fedor Mirinova and Sergei Dronov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice body kick from Takeshi.
Takeshi misses with a head kick.
Takeshi throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Paulssen's head.
Paulssen swings for the body but Takeshi moves out of range.
A slapping leg kick lands for Takeshi.
Paulssen throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Takeshi throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Paulssen feinted with a counter takedown.
Takeshi tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Paulssen fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Paulssen misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Takeshi.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Takeshi looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Takeshi lands a nice looking body kick.
Takeshi stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Takeshi wants it to stay on the feet.
Takeshi fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Paulssen looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Takeshi lands a nice looking kick to the body. Paulssen takes a step back to recover.

Takeshi cracks Paulssen with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Paulssen chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Takeshi can pounce on him.
No luck for Paulssen with that takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Karlssen Paulssen. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Paulssen throws an ugly left hook that misses
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Paulssen misses with a jab to the body
and Takeshi counters with an inside leg kick.
Paulssen changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Takeshi tries to avoid it but Paulssen manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Takeshi to the ground. Takeshi escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Paulssen takes a swing at Takeshi's ribcage but misses.
Paulssen walks into a straight right hand from Takeshi.
Paulssen swings for the body but Takeshi moves out of range.
A good leg kick by Takeshi.
Takeshi throws a head kick that Paulssen semi-blocks.

Paulssen takes a swing at Takeshi's ribcage but misses.
Paulssen takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Paulssen throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Takeshi counters with a thumping low kick.
Paulssen misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Takeshi counters with a nice uppercut.
Paulssen looks to score with a jab to the body but Takeshi is just out of range.
Takeshi tries a head kick but it misses.
Takeshi fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Paulssen on the side of the head.
Takeshi throws a head kick that misses.
Paulssen is looking to wear down Takeshi with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Paulssen misses with a takedown
and Takeshi counters with a nice low kick that buckles Paulssen's knee momentarily.
Paulssen takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Takeshi throws a body kick that misses.
A good leg kick by Takeshi.

Paulssen looks to score with a jab to the body but Takeshi is just out of range.
Takeshi scores with a body shot.
Paulssen throws a poor cross that misses
and Takeshi counters with a good low kick that Paulssen was not able to check.
Paulssen chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Takeshi can pounce on him.
Paulssen looks to score with a jab to the body but Takeshi is just out of range.
Paulssen throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Paulssen is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.
Takeshi throws a lazy head kick

and Paulssen counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Takeshi wants to stand up but Paulssen is controlling him.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Paulssen trying to control the position from guard on top but Takeshi is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Paulssen passes Takeshi's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Paulssen passes to side control.
The strikes coming from Paulssen are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Takeshi parries the strikes from Paulssen easily there. Paulssen is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Takeshi to escape.
Takeshi really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Paulssen. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Takeshi is looking for a sweep.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Takeshi wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Paulssen throws an elbow but Takeshi slips to the side and avoids it well.
Paulssen advances to mount.

Paulssen working for a submission but Takeshi is keeping him at bay.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Hamada Takeshi dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Paulssen throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Takeshi turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Paulssen missing with a left hand there. Takeshi was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Paulssen fails to land the takedown.
Takeshi is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
Takeshi connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Takeshi throws a predictable looking body shot

and Paulssen counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Takeshi keeping moving, preventing Paulssen from controlling successfully.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Takeshi is trying to control the position but Paulssen postures up.
Takeshi preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Paulssen throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Paulssen pushing down on Takeshi's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.

Paulssen frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
We've been hearing that Paulssen has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
Paulssen can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Takeshi is looking to escape.

Paulssen is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Takeshi to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Takeshi shrugs it off.

Paulssen is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Paulssen extends the arm and Takeshi is forced to tap!
