Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Willy Lee (ranked 6063 p4p, 5668 weight class) and Ray Lawris (ranked 641 p4p, 627 weight class). Willy Lee has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Willy Lee!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ray Lawris!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Aleksandr Martynov and Dmitry Maklakov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lee will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Lee shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Lawris as he jumps to the side.

Lawris is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.
Lee has been working on his balance at St Petersburg MMA Gym, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Lawris.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Willy Lee. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Lawris stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Lawris wants it to stay on the feet.
Lawris steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Lee.
Lawris leaves Lee with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Lawris tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.

Despite the aggression on Lawris's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.

Lee shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Lawris but Lawris pushes him off and we're back to square one.

and Lawris counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Lee dives in for a single leg takedown but Lawris sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Lawris wants to get back to striking at distance but Lee won't allow it.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Lee postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Lee prevents Lawris from getting back to his feet.

Lee controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Lee accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Lee fails with the takedown.
Lee sets himself, and Lawris steps forward looking for the clinch! Lee avoids it this time.

and Lawris moves into the clinch.

Lawris ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Lawris no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Lee throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Lawris works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Lawris wants to stand and escape but Lee is having none of it.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Lawris can do anything to dispel that myth.

Lee drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Lee jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Lee looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Lawris has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Lee is trying to control the action in half guard but Lawris is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Lee tries to close the distance and clinch but Lawris swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Lee tightens his grip and picks Lawris up, before dumping him to the ground. Lawris manages to land in guard.
Lee is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Lawris is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Lee is controlling him.
Lee has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Lee is looking to work some ground and pound but Lawris has wrist control.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Lawris has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Lee is on him like a limpet, forcing Lawris back against the cage.

Lawris's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Lawris is trying to drag Lee to the mat but Lee just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Lawris manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Lee will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Lee shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Lee was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Lee remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

I think Lawris has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
