Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between KJ Wassermann (ranked 1387 p4p, 1522 weight class) and Timo Leyton (ranked 190 p4p, 207 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, KJ Wassermann! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 4 - 0 - 1, fighting out of The Island, Timo Leyton! The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, Santiago Holmes and Sandra Marshall.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight. Leyton tries for a takedown but Wassermann circles away easily and Wassermann connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Leyton with a lazy takedown attempt and Wassermann counters with a straight right hand. Leyton with a poor takedown and Wassermann counters with a nice uppercut. KJ Wassermann has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Timo Leyton. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Leyton shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Leyton takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Leyton shoots in looking for a takedown but Wassermann manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Leyton's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Wassermann definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Leyton throws a poor cross that misses
and Wassermann counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Leyton with a poor takedown and Wassermann counters with a nice uppercut. No luck for Leyton with that takedown attempt.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Leyton gets the takedown into side control. Wassermann bucks up and tries to throw Leyton off but instead Leyton has got his back! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Leyton punches the canvas rather than the man. Wassermann covering up well under a series of strikes from Leyton. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Wassermann trying to get back to his feet but Leyton is in full control for now.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Leyton trying to control. Wassermann covering up well and avoiding damage. Leyton scores with punches to the body. Leyton has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Wassermann preventing the rear naked choke attempt from Leyton. Leyton throwing strikes from the back - he gets a warning from the referee for striking the back of the head but all these shots are hurting Wassermann!

Leyton patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here? Leyton has good solid back control here. Wassermann avoids the strikes from Leyton. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Leyton wants to control but Wassermann is keeping busy. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Timo Leyton will probably get the nod. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Leyton shoots for a double leg takedown but Wassermann sprawls well. He's pushed Leyton's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Timo Leyton seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Leyton misses with a takedown attempt enabling Wassermann to counter with a crisp jab. Leyton with a lazy takedown attempt and Wassermann counters with a three punch combo that has Leyton backing up. Leyton nods at Wassermann to acknowledge the strikes. KJ Wassermann has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Timo Leyton. Wassermann stuffs the takedown attempt from Leyton. Leyton gets slowly back to his feet. Wassermann tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Leyton manages to circle out of the way.

Wassermann seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance. Leyton fails to land the takedown. Leyton doesn't succeed with the takedown and Wassermann counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Wassermann keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Leyton. Leyton gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily letting Wassermann counter with a right hand. Wassermann is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all. The fighters circling - Leyton throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Wassermann appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body. KJ Wassermann is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Leyton dives in and scores a takedown into Wassermann's guard. Leyton trying to control the position from guard on top but Wassermann is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Leyton wants to pass the guard but Wassermann is keeping the position. Leyton trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Leyton engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Wassermann knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Leyton on the ground. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Leyton trying to control but Wassermann is working from the bottom. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
KJ Wassermann dominated that second round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round! Leyton doesn't succeed with the takedown and Wassermann makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Leyton stalling away here and it's allowed Wassermann to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard. Leyton seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world. Leyton misses the shot to the body. It looked like Wassermann was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Leyton. Leyton misses with a takedown and Leyton takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Leyton with a poor takedown and Wassermann counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
And that's the end of the fight! KJ Wassermann showed his dominance in that final round. I think Wassermann has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
