Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Joshua Spotter (ranked 3152 p4p, 3413 weight class) and Shug Skinner (ranked 417 p4p, 446 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Joshua Spotter! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Shug Skinner! The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, Sandra Marshall and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Spotter catches Skinner with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Skinner swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Spotter appears to be looking for a big counter. Joshua Spotter seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Spotter moves away from the strike by Skinner. Skinner fails to land with a series of punches.
Spotter listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut. Spotter digs a good body shot into Skinner's ribs. Spotter misses with the combination.
Skinner takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Skinner has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Skinner takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Skinner ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Spotter moves away. Skinner moves into the clinch. This has been an exciting period of action! Spotter fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Skinner creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses. Spotter wants to get back to striking at distance but Skinner won't allow it.

It looks like Joshua Spotter has been cut.
That's one minute gone in the round. Spotter tries to break free but Skinner pushes him back against the cage. I was talking to Spotter's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight. Skinner lands an elbow inside. Spotter blocks an elbow strike from Skinner.
Skinner misses with an elbow over the top. Spotter fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Spotter lands a left hand.
Skinner lands a nice elbow from the clinch. A nice glancing elbow lands by Skinner.
Joshua Spotter's cut is getting worse. Spotter fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Spotter swings wildly with an uppercut but Skinner uses good head movement to avoid it. Skinner pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage. Spotter swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Skinner lands a glancing elbow in the clinch. Skinner throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Spotter tries to circle away but Skinner has him pinned against the cage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. With the two fighters working up against the cage, Skinner just misses with a elbow thrown towards Spotter's brow. Spotter has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Spotter swings wildly with an uppercut but Skinner uses good head movement to avoid it. Spotter is trying to break the clinch but Skinner is controlling him. Skinner lands a nice elbow. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Skinner lands an elbow just above Spotter 's eye. Skinner throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.

Skinner lands an elbow that stopped Spotter in his tracks for a moment.
Joshua Spotter's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it. Spotter is trying to force a seperation but Skinner has the dominant position. Spotter blocks an elbow strike. Skinner lands an elbow inside that Spotter shrugs off.
Jeez, Joshua Spotter's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked. Skinner blocks an uppercut.
