Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jack Holmes (ranked 6084 p4p, 3106 weight class) and BC Smith (ranked 577 p4p, 377 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Smith looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Holmes!

Holmes is trying to stand.

Smith jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Holmes manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Smith lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Holmes is trying to get back to his feet.
Holmes trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
Smith connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Holmes some visible discomfort.

Smith tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Smith prevents Holmes from escaping the position.
Smith works to advance to full mount. Holmes defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Smith lands a couple of good shots and Holmes has given up his back, trying to escape the position!

Smith has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Holmes has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Holmes is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Smith lands a couple of good shots to his opponent's body and a final shot to the head. Good little attack there by Smith.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Holmes is trying to get back to his feet but Smith has full control of the position and if anything, Holmes has just worked his way into a worse spot.
Holmes might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Smith is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. Holmes has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Smith has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Holmes taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Smith doesn't care though - he's delighted!
