CACC 215 PBP Commentary |
This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the lightweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 5 wins and 7 losses; Juu Dyon! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Sydney, with a TWGC record of 9 wins and 6 losses; Joe Gatsby!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Wesley Smith and Alan Glass.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way.
Dyon shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Gatsby changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Dyon goes for a double leg but Gatsby avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Gatsby continues to drive forward.
Dyon ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Dyon no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Dyon controls Gatsby momentarily but Gatsby frees himself.
Gatsby trying to control but Dyon is working from the bottom.
Dyon pulls Gatsby in close to prevent any damage.
Dyon is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Gatsby told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.

Gatsby tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Gatsby has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
You can see the frustration on Dyon's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dyon is looking for a sweep.
Gatsby wants to control but Dyon is keeping him busy.
Gatsby is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Dyon is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Dyon tries to buck Gatsby off but Gatsby is having none of it.

Gatsby sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Dyon stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Gatsby swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Dyon is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Gatsby's shoulder. That is not cool.
