Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jon Adams (ranked 4791 p4p, 4790 weight class) and Xander Montgomery (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jon Adams!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Xander Montgomery!
The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Winston Alpacca and Peter Branson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Montgomery misses with a jab, cross combination.

Montgomery is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Adams's half guard.

Adams looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Adams is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Montgomery pulls his head out easily.
Montgomery really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Adams. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Montgomery thows a huge punch but Adams dodges it nicely.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Adams looking for a kimura from the bottom but Montgomery passes into side control!

Montgomery is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Adams knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Adams tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Montgomery wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Adams is squirming around, avoiding Montgomery's attempts to control the action.
Montgomery wants to take Adams's back here but Adams is holding on to an arm, himself looking to escape.
Montgomery wants to control the pace but Adams is squirming around nicely.
Montgomery looking to ground and pound but Adams is blocking nicely.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Montgomery goes for an armbar but Adams turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Adams.
Montgomery can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Adams controls the pace.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

Montgomery uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Adams.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Montgomery can do anything to dispel that myth.

Montgomery lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Montgomery wants to get up but he can't break Adams's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Montgomery looking to sit in guard and control but Adams gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.


Montgomery escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Adams gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Adams tries to free his leg and advance position but Montgomery is retaining full guard.
Adams stops Montgomery from standing up.

Adams drops back, looking for a kneebar! Montgomery looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Montgomery looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Montgomery!

Montgomery tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Montgomery has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Adams is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Montgomery seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Montgomery wants to take a breather but Adams is having none of it.

Adams looking to force a kimura from the bottom here. He's concentrating on that move too much though and Montgomery pushes past his half guard into mount!
Montgomery looking to control but Adams is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Montgomery has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Adams blocking the ground and pound.

Xander Montgomery showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Montgomery changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Adams looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Montgomery wants to control but Adams is keeping him busy.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Adams is looking for a sweep.
Montgomery trying to control the position but Adams is working away.
Adams manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

Montgomery wants to work for an arm triangle but Adams is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Adams tries to roll over but Montgomery keeps him under control.

Montgomery throws a strike but Adams manages to get a kimura sweep and he's found himself on top with the kimura half locked in! This would be a real turnaround! He's torquing it... Will Montgomery tap??? YES! He's tapped! This one is all over!
