Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mike Carpenter (ranked 2494 p4p, 3995 weight class) and Kentur Kimathi (ranked 299 p4p, 458 weight class). This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mike Carpenter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kentur Kimathi!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Nard Betker and Aafke Stam.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carpenter throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Kimathi.
We've been hearing reports that Carpenter has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Kimathi leaves Carpenter with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
It seemed like Kimathi was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Carpenter tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Kimathi manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Kimathi is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Carpenter with a body shot.
Carpenter darts in looking for a takedown but Kimathi gets double underhooks and turns Carpenter into the cage.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Kimathi! But no joy.

Carpenter seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Kimathi for as long as he can get away with.

We've been informed that Kimathi has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

and Kimathi counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Carpenter shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Carpenter wants to take the fight to the mat but Kimathi manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Carpenter drops down looking for an ankle pick but Kimathi pulls his leg out and moves away.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Kimathi gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Mike Carpenter will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Carpenter shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Kimathi manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Kimathi has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Carpenter is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

Carpenter looks up at the clock and then as Kimathi takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Carpenter smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Carpenter is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Kimathi's shoulder. That is not cool.
Carpenter has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Kimathi is looking to get back to his feet here but Carpenter is keeping cool and he's managed to take Kimathi's back.
Carpenter is throwing punches to the body, looking to soften Kimathi up.

Carpenter trying to secure his dominant position for a moment - making sure Kimathi doesn't escape.
Kimathi is trying to remain composed but Carpenter is hammering down strikes to the side of his head.

Kimathi is trying to get back to his feet but Carpenter has full control of the position and if anything, Kimathi has just worked his way into a worse spot.
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
Carpenter is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Kimathi can do to turn this around?

Carpenter is working for a rear naked choke. Kimathi is not defending it well and Carpenter has tightened it up quickly! This could be all over! Kimathi refuses to tap and goes to sleep, forcing the referee to intervene. A little trickle of blood came out of Kimathi's nose as his head slumped to the floor. That is naaaasty!
