PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nate Williams (ranked 3096 p4p, 4763 weight class) and Dan Tank (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Nate Williams!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Dan Tank!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, James Atkins and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice takedown defense from Tank. No joy for Williams on that attempt.
Williams dives in and grabs Tank's left leg, looking for a takedown. Tank pushes down on Williams's head and hops out.

Tank rushes Williams and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Williams can't break the clinch.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Tank takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Tank is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body.
Williams is trying to break the clinch but Tank has him pressed against the cage.
Tank drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Williams gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Williams can't break the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Tank gets control of Williams's arms and successfully pulls guard. Tank will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Tank thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

Tank manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Williams manages to get himself to full guard.

Tank is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Tank postures up in Williams's guard and throws a big left but Williams blocks it.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Tank has eaten all the pies!

Williams has his foot on Tank's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Tank works his way back into a safe position though.

Williams is trying to hold Tank in close to prevent damage but Tank has managed to pass into half guard.
Tank wants to advance to full mount but Williams doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.

Tank stands up over Williams, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Williams controls Tank momentarily but Tank frees himself.
Tank connects with a couple of short punches.
Williams wants to stand up but Tank is controlling him.
Tank pushing down on Williams's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.

Williams wants to control the action here but instead Tank manages to pass to full mount!
Williams tries to reverse the position but Tank maintains control.
Tank looking to control and managing it successfully.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Williams tries to hold on but Tank pushes him away.
Tank putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!

Williams tries to lock up and control but Tank gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Tank is landing with some decent strikes but Williams is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Tank tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Tank looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Williams is trying to escape the mount.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Tank looking to control and managing it successfully.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Williams fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Tank clinches up with Williams and pushes him back against the cage.
Williams tries to break the clinch but Tank is controlling the position.

Tank keeping moving, preventing Williams from controlling successfully.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Williams accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Williams looking to pass the guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Williams closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Tank to the mat! Tank manages to get full guard.

Tank has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Williams has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

A frustrated look appears on Williams's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Williams wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Williams tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Tank holding his opponent close, against the cage.
Williams wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Tank has him pressed against the cage.
Williams can't break the clinch.

Tank has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Williams uses from the top position.
Dan Tank has got the better of the ground game so far.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Tank is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Williams presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.

Tank has hold of one of Williams's legs. Williams is fighting the takedown attempt but Tank gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Williams seems keen to control Tank's posture.
Williams is striking but Tank is not phased and passes to half guard.
Williams is controlling Tank's position as best he can from this difficult position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Williams wants to control but Tank is keeping busy and won't allow it.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Dan Tank showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Williams has a hand on Tank's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Tank takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
Tank cracks Williams with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Williams is trying desperately to improve position.
Tank is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Williams can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Dan Tank comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Tank has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
