Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Edmund Shklyarskiy (ranked 2936 p4p, 3209 weight class) and Spencer Williams (ranked 166 p4p, 176 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 15 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Edmund Shklyarskiy! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Spencer Williams! The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Russell Pearce and Chad Campbell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shklyarskiy lands with a shot to the body. Williams misses with a low kick. Shklyarskiy lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. Shklyarskiy misses with a hook
letting Williams counter with a right hand. Shklyarskiy throws a lazy right hand but Williams sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Williams uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Shklyarskiy. Shklyarskiy loads up on a big right hand but Williams slips the punch. Shklyarskiy pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Shklyarskiy walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. Shklyarskiy misses with a wild combination.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Shklyarskiy keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Williams. Shklyarskiy fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Williams manages to avoid it. Shklyarskiy slips under a jab. Williams shoots in looking for a takedown. Shklyarskiy tries to sprawl out of it but Williams keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Shklyarskiy manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Williams misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Shklyarskiy.
Shklyarskiy misses with a looping right. A little jabbing left from Williams on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. Shklyarskiy swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Williams cracks Shklyarskiy with a good jab. Shklyarskiy takes a swing at Williams's ribcage but misses. Shklyarskiy keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Shklyarskiy throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Williams tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Shklyarskiy was well out of range. Poor timing from Williams. Shklyarskiy throws a right and a left that Williams avoids nicely. Williams throws a hook but Shklyarskiy avoids it easily. Shklyarskiy misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Williams throws out a counter right but Shklyarskiy avoids it with no problem. Williams closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
That's two minutes gone in the round. This has been an exciting period of action! Shklyarskiy prevents Williams from moving into mount. Shklyarskiy managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Williams.
Shklyarskiy can't do much from the bottom here. Shklyarskiy on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Shklyarskiy tries to get out of the position. Shklyarskiy is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Williams is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Shklyarskiy is looking to regain half guard here but Williams keeps moving and retains side control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Williams prevents Shklyarskiy from escaping the position. Shklyarskiy manages to get back to half guard. Shklyarskiy is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Williams stops Shklyarskiy from getting back to his feet.

I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Shklyarskiy is looking for a sweep. Williams is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Williams scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Williams throwing shots but Shklyarskiy is blocking nicely.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Williams lands a nice short elbow. Williams wants to take a breather but Shklyarskiy is having none of it. Ground and pound from Williams. Williams is nestled in close to Shklyarskiy, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Shklyarskiy tries to get to full guard but Williams has control of the leg. Shklyarskiy knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Williams on the ground. Williams is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Williams working his ground and pound in the gym. So far it seems to be working well. Williams wants to control but Shklyarskiy is keeping him busy. Williams has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Williams drops an elbow to the side of Shklyarskiy's head. Williams passes to full mount! Shklyarskiy is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Williams postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Shklyarskiy looks a forlorn figure.

Williams changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt. Edmund Shklyarskiy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Williams connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Shklyarskiy some visible discomfort.

Williams lands punches and elbows. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Williams is working the ground and pound. Can Shklyarskiy escape? Williams lands with a hammerfist to the side of Shklyarskiy's head. Williams scores with a nice shot to the head of his opponent. Shklyarskiy is looking for a way out. Williams keeps control of the position as Shklyarskiy tries to break free.
Well, with Williams on his back, surely it's only a matter of time before Shklyarskiy is tapping out... Can he escape the position? Shklyarskiy covers up after taking a massive shot to the side of the head.
