Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Okafor (ranked 2295 p4p, 2358 weight class) and Patrick Turgeon (ranked 282 p4p, 288 weight class). Patrick Turgeon has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Okafor!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Patrick Turgeon!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and Percy O'Donnell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Okafor misses with a hook
and Turgeon counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Okafor thinking.
A nice combination there by Okafor.
It looks like Patrick Turgeon has been cut.
Turgeon has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Turgeon there as he acknowledges the shot.
Turgeon takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Turgeon just misses with a punch to the body.
Turgeon connects with a body shot that sends Okafor's belly button to the back.
Okafor keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Turgeon looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Turgeon lands a big right hand that sends Okafor crashing to the mat! Turgeon stays standing though and waves Okafor back to his feet!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Okafor throws out a loose jab but Turgeon uses good head movement to avoid it.
Turgeon cracks Okafor with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Okafor tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Turgeon pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Okafor is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:51 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Patrick Turgeon!
