Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ryan Hanley (ranked 2834 p4p, 1848 weight class) and Damian Hunt (ranked 383 p4p, 257 weight class). Hunt comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Hate the other side kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ryan Hanley! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Damian Hunt! The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Chris Downing and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hanley uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Hunt. Hanley misses with a takedown attempt - Hunt sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Hanley steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Hunt. Hanley scores with a takedown into Hunt's guard. Hunt keeping moving, preventing Hanley from controlling successfully. Hunt really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hanley. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Hanley controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Hanley trying to control but Hunt is working from the bottom. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hanley being controlled here momentarily. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Hunt can do anything to dispel that myth.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hanley wants to pass the guard but Hunt is keeping the position. Hunt can't keep his opponent in guard - Hanley advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Hanley is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Hunt has managed to free his arm - good work. Hanley is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Hunt defends it well. Hunt is trying is best to control the position here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Hanley is working for a submission of some sort.
Hanley is just content to waste time from the top position. Hunt takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard. Hanley trying to control but Hunt is working from the bottom. Hanley gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Hanley blocks a jab. Hunt ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Hanley moves away. Hanley shoots in for a double leg but Hunt sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hanley misses with a looping left. Hunt throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Hanley tries a head kick but it misses.
Hanley looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Hunt scores with a jab to the head.
It looks like Ryan Hanley has been cut. Damian Hunt is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Hanley looks for a takedown but Hunt sprawls well. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ryan Hanley. That's going to take a lot out of him. Hunt looks to throw the jab but Hanley is out of range. Hunt cracks Hanley with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. Hunt throws a hook but Hanley avoids it easily. Hunt swings for the body but Hanley moves out of range.
An attempted straight right counter from Hanley misses the target. A slow jab from Hunt misses its intended target. Hunt pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Hanley keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Hunt. Hunt misses with a looping right. Hanley thinks about countering with a head kick. Hanley misses with a two punch combination.
Hanley has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Hanley there as he acknowledges the shot. Hanley blocks a jab.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Hanley shoots for a takedown but Hunt saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Hanley closes this distance looking for a takedown but Hunt circles away. Hanley shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Hunt defends it nicely. Hunt scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. Hunt steps in with a hook that catches Hanley right on the chin and knocks him to the floor! Hunt follows him down with more strikes and that's all she wrote! Hanley looks absolutely devastated.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:36 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Damian Hunt! Damian Hunt retains his light heavyweight title! Jumping up and down and very excited, Damian Hunt waved his t-shirt featuring Money Inc. (160Q with Proof ) 165$ 's logo in front of the cameras.
