The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wei looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Wei rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Damien moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
A swing and a miss from Wei.
Damien tries to counter with a takedown but Wei is quick to defend against it.
Wei misses with a wild combination.
Wei uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Wei throws a poor cross that misses

and Damien counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Damien.

Wei working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Damien doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Damien manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Damien thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Damien seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Damien fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Wei throws a right and a left that Damien avoids nicely.
Damien appears to be looking for a counter takedown.

and Damien counters with a single leg into guard. Wei didn't expect that.
Wei tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Damien wants to take a breather but Wei is having none of it.

Damien has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Wei defend it? Damien steps over the head and cranks it - Wei is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Damien!
