Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Mapple Syrup (ranked 3394 p4p, 3053 weight class) and Ted Meredith (ranked 476 p4p, 442 weight class). Mapple Syrup has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Mapple Syrup! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Ted Meredith! The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, David Hoff and Peter Branson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Meredith takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away. Syrup avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
A jab from Meredith misses. Syrup seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance. Meredith lands a nice looking body shot.
Meredith tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Meredith is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Syrup. A counter left hand to the body from Syrup misses its target. Meredith throws a body kick despite being completely out of range and Syrup counters with a nice double leg into guard. Meredith is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Syrup is controlling him. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Syrup looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Syrup prevents Meredith from getting back to his feet. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Syrup slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Syrup trying to control the position from guard on top but Meredith is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Meredith is looking to stand back up but Syrup counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Meredith.
That's one minute gone in the round. Meredith pushes Syrup off looking to stand but Syrup dives back in and keeps control.
Meredith is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first. Syrup is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Meredith is trying to escape back to his feet but Syrup uses the scramble to pass into side control.
Meredith is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here. Syrup tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it. Meredith wants to get back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Syrup slows the pace down. Syrup is looking to take a break and control but Meredith is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Syrup on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. Syrup takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Syrup avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Syrup drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Meredith tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Syrup was well out of range. Poor timing from Meredith. Syrup really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Meredith throws a lazy right hand but Syrup sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Meredith gets caught napping as Syrup dives in and scores a takedown. Meredith manages to retain guard. Syrup wants to stand but Meredith has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Meredith is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Syrup presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat. Syrup avoids the elbow strike from Meredith, against the cage.
Knees in the clinch landing for Meredith.
Syrup is breathing heavily. Syrup gets a nice trip takedown into half guard. Meredith pushes Syrup off and gets back to his feet. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Nice jab there from Meredith. Meredith has tried to improve his agility in the runup to this fight. Ted Meredith seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Meredith, as that shot connected.
Syrup shoots in and drives through. Meredith sprawls well. Good exchange - Meredith coming out on top. Some wild striking there from Meredith.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A jab lands there for Meredith. Meredith dips to his left and cracks Syrup with an uppercut! Syrup looks to land a left hand but Meredith moved out of range nicely. Meredith misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Meredith might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable. Meredith throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Syrup uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Meredith. Meredith lands a head shot. Meredith misses with an attempted mid kick.
Syrup takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Meredith listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut. Meredith scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. Meredith throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Syrup stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Syrup takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Meredith tries to clinch but Syrup moves out of range. Syrup tries to counter with a takedown but Meredith is quick to defend against it. A nice combination there by Meredith.
Syrup is rocked! And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Ted Meredith dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Meredith throws a right and a left that both miss. Meredith lands with a shot to the body. Nice shot lands for Meredith. Oh Syrup is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Meredith connects with a crisp jab. Meredith steps in with a hook that catches Syrup right on the chin and knocks him to the floor! Meredith follows him down with more strikes and that's all she wrote! Syrup looks absolutely devastated.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:18 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ted Meredith! Our winner, Ted Meredith, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
