PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rashad Jackson (ranked 2130 p4p, 2905 weight class) and Ser Gregor Clegane (ranked 262 p4p, 347 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Rashad Jackson has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Rashad Jackson seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Rashad Jackson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Ser Gregor Clegane!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Santiago Holmes and Bart Greer.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Clegane takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Jackson throws a left and a right that both miss

and Clegane counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Clegane.
Jackson wants to get back to his feet but Clegane passes into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Clegane wants to pass to mount but Jackson is defending the position.
Clegane is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Clegane trying to mount his opponent but Jackson defends it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jackson wants to get back to his feet.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Clegane in particular looking to stall.

Clegane is working for a submission of some sort.
Clegane keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Clegane seems to be working for a kimura but Jackson defends the submission attempt.
Clegane looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Clegane sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Jackson defending well though.
Clegane tries to pass the half guard into mount. Jackson knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Rashad Jackson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Jackson fails to land with a series of punches.
Jackson stuffs the takedown.
Jackson looks to clinch

and Clegane counters with a shoot takedown. Jackson fights it but they end up in guard.
Clegane postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Jackson avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Jackson is looking to stand up but Clegane isn't so interested in that idea.
Clegane pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Jackson is keeping the position for now.
Clegane loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Clegane sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Jackson's guard.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Ser Gregor Clegane dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Jackson tries a head kick but it misses.

Clegane shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Jackson wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Clegane manages to pass to side control.
Clegane looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Clegane thows a huge punch but Jackson dodges it nicely.
Clegane content to control rather than advance.
Clegane prevents Jackson from standing back up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Clegane is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Jackson is just riding it out for now. Clegane eventually gives up the hold.
Jackson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Clegane on the ground.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Clegane in particular looking to stall.
Ser Gregor Clegane has got the better of the ground game so far.

Clegane is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Jackson is just riding it out for now. Clegane eventually gives up the hold.

Clegane takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Let's hope that Clegane has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Clegane is looking to advance position but Jackson won't allow it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Clegane looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Clegane works his way into full mount!
Clegane has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Jackson tries to reverse the position but Clegane maintains control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Clegane looking to finish with strikes here!
Clegane sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Clegane throwing strikes here but Jackson is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.

The referee warns Jackson that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Ser Gregor Clegane showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Clegane drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Jackson sneaks out the side door and pushes Clegane away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

Clegane feints and as Jackson raises his hands in defense, Clegane changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Clegane's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Clegane is continuing to stall.
The adventures of Clegane the control monster continue. Boring.
Jackson is trying to control the position but Clegane postures up.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Clegane works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Clegane sitting and controlling from the half guard.
Clegane is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Clegane takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Jackson holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Clegane tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.

Clegane misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Poor strikes thrown by Clegane there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Ser Gregor Clegane is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
