Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mark Goetz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dwight Monthouse !
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Dean Styles and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Monthouse shoots in looking for a takedown but Goetz manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Monthouse 's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Oooooh!!! Goetz has knocked Monthouse down with a huge combo! Goetz steps away and waves a wobbly Monthouse back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!

Monthouse is rocked!
Goetz feints and then cracks Monthouse 's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Monthouse down.
Monthouse is still on wobbly legs! Can Goetz finish him?
Monthouse walks forward, straight into a front kick from Goetz.
Monthouse seems to have recovered his senses.
Goetz lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Mark Goetz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dwight Monthouse .
Goetz scores with a spinning back kick!
Monthouse tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Goetz feints and then cracks Monthouse 's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Monthouse down.

Monthouse closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Goetz to the mat! Goetz manages to get full guard.

Goetz had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Monthouse defends it easily.
Monthouse trying to control but Goetz is working from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Goetz looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Monthouse is pushing down on Goetz's leg trying to pass to half guard. Goetz is fighting to maintain full guard but Monthouse has managed to sneak the leg through.
Goetz is staying active underneath Monthouse , who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Monthouse seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Goetz is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Dwight Monthouse !
After the fight, Dwight Monthouse was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
