PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Hugo Loris (ranked 1741 p4p, 1352 weight class) and Twea King (ranked 183 p4p, 151 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Twea King was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Hugo Loris!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 11 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Twea King!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, James Atkins and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
King moves away from the strike by Loris.
King misses the shot to the body.
Loris is looking to counter punch.
Loris swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Loris keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
King avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Loris misses with a right hand
and King connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
King has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Loris finds it's way round the side to connect with King's head.

Loris drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Loris throwing strikes but missing.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
King is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Loris throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as King works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

We've been hearing that Loris has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

A momentary lapse in concentration from King enables Loris to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. King manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

King is looking for a triangle but Loris pushes his legs off easily.

Loris slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
King keeping moving, preventing Loris from controlling successfully.

Loris with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling King to score with a decent uppercut.

King throws a series of punches but Loris moves out of range.

King lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

Loris connects with a single shot there.
King ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Loris moves away.
Loris fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and King has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
King fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Loris manages to avoid it.

Loris gets a double leg takedown into King's guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Loris wants to control from the top but King keeps moving.

Loris is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that King can do to turn this around?

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Hugo Loris.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Loris, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Hugo Loris spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
