PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Stefan Barbu (ranked 3808 p4p, 6310 weight class) and Mack Jackson (ranked 455 p4p, 567 weight class). Barbu comes to the cage accompanied by Mândruţă frumoasă. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jackson fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Jackson bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Jackson is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Barbu is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Barbu can't do much from the bottom here.
Barbu tries to buck Jackson off but Jackson is having none of it.
Jackson is looking to take a break and control but Barbu is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jackson might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Barbu haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Barbu manages to work his way to half guard, despite Jackson's best efforts.

Barbu tries to improve position but can't.
Barbu is working hard here to advance position.
Barbu has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.
Barbu is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Jackson's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Jackson looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Jackson seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Barbu does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Jackson seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Barbu is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
