Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between James Baxter (ranked 4575 p4p, 6110 weight class) and Joe Wicks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, James Baxter! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Joe Wicks! The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Vladimir Khabensky.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wicks closes the distance and clinches up with Baxter, looking for a takedown. Wicks pushes Baxter against the cage but Baxter circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Baxter lands a nice looking kick to the body. Wicks takes a step back to recover. Baxter throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.

Wicks closes the distance and clinches. Wicks trying to land knees to the body.
Baxter can't break the clinch.
Wicks's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not. We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Wicks has eaten all the pies! Wicks pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. James Baxter seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Wicks closes the distance and clinches up with Baxter, looking for a takedown. Wicks pushes Baxter against the cage but Baxter circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Baxter tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Baxter throws a head kick that misses and Wicks finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body. Baxter is breathing heavily. Ohhhhh! A huge head kick from Wicks! Baxter is out on his feet! Wicks rushes in and throws more strikes. The ref is looking closely - Baxter is covering up but the punishment is just too much and the ref steps in to stop the fight! Baxter is staring into space, just thankful that the beatdown has ended. Brutal finish.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:05 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Joe Wicks!
