Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Abe Masters (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Julio Cesar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Abe Masters!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Julio Cesar!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Edson Gomes and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cesar throws a nice head kick!
Masters could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Nice sprawl there from Masters as Cesar shoots in.
Masters tries to clinch but Cesar is having none of it.

Cesar moves into range and clinches up with Masters.
Masters manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Masters is working for takedown but Cesar is calmly controlling the position for now.

Cesar's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Masters shoots in and drives through. Cesar sprawls well.
Masters tries for a takedown but Cesar sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Abe Masters. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Masters forces Cesar back against the cage and clinches.
Masters fails to pull guard.
Cesar drops down looking for an ankle pick but Masters pulls his leg out and moves away.
Cesar closes the distance and clinches up with Masters, looking for a takedown. Cesar pushes Masters against the cage but Masters circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Masters keeps the fight on the outside.

Masters fails to land the takedown.
Cesar throws a head kick but Masters moves out of range.
Cesar moves out of range of the body kick.
Masters tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Cesar was well out of range. Poor timing from Masters.
Cesar shoots for a double leg takedown but Masters sprawls well. He's pushed Cesar's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Masters moves into range and clinches up with Cesar.
Masters wants to break the clinch but can't.
With the fighters up against the cage, Masters throws an elbow but misses.
Masters taking a breather.
Cesar tries to throw a body punch but Masters avoids it by throwing Cesar back against the cage.

Cesar breaks from the clinch.
Masters fails with the takedown.
Cesar misses with a takedown
and Masters counters with a left to the body.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Cesar doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Masters counters with a shoot takedown. Cesar fights it but they end up in guard.
Masters prevents Cesar from getting back to his feet.
Cesar looks gassed!

Masters stands up from Cesar's guard - Masters perhaps looking for a knockout.
Cesar gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Masters counters with a stiff right hand.
Masters ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Masters wants to clinch up but Cesar keeps it at a distance.

Masters shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Masters tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Masters gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!
Masters looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Cesar scores a takedown into full mount!
Masters is in all sorts of trouble here.
Cesar controlling his opponent.
Let's hope that Cesar has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

I looks like Cesar might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Masters keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Cesar wants to control the pace but Masters is squirming around nicely.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cesar throws a leg kick which misses Masters's front leg but catches the back leg as Masters tries to avoid it.
Masters tries to clinch up.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Cesar shoots in but no luck this time.
Cesar tries to clinch up but Masters circles away and keeps his distance.

Masters jumps guard and drags Cesar to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Masters doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Cesar must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Masters is trying to keep Cesar in close.
Cesar wants to stand but Masters is controlling his posture from full guard.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Cesar wants to stand and escape but instead Masters has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Masters stands up and waves to Cesar to follow him.
Masters throws a right and a left that both miss.
Cesar plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Masters stuffs the takedown attempt from Cesar. Cesar gets slowly back to his feet.

and Masters counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Cesar is working an open guard so Masters takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Masters circles away from the clinch attempt.
Masters fails with a takedown attempt.

and Masters counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Masters.
Masters with a flurry of punches that miss.
Masters trying to control but Cesar is working from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Masters trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Masters throwing strikes but missing.

Cesar looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Cesar really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Masters. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Masters stands and steps away. Cesar gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Cesar tries to close the distance and clinch up but Masters swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Cesar throws a front kick that sends Masters stumbling back into the cage.
Masters fails to land the takedown.
Cesar fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

and Masters counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Masters tightens his grip and picks Cesar up, before dumping him to the ground. Cesar manages to land in guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Masters's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Cesar misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Masters is looking to clinch but Cesar is avoiding it.
Masters throws a half hearted mid kick.
Cesar avoids a kick to the body.
Cesar fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Masters closes the distance and clinches.
Masters stalling.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Masters closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Masters is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Cesar is trying to maintain the position but Masters is very close to passing his half guard.
Cesar wants to get back to his feet.

Cesar is defending against the submission attempts here by Masters.
Masters wants to take a breather but Cesar is having none of it.
Cesar is controlling Masters's trapped leg to prevent Masters from advancing to side control.
Cesar tries to roll over but Masters keeps him under control.

Abe Masters overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Julio Cesar has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Cesar wants to sweep here but Masters controlling him for the moment.
Masters wants to control from the top but Cesar keeps moving.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Cesar wants to stand up but Masters is controlling him.
Cesar trying to keep a closed guard but Masters is proving a slippery customer.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Cesar misses with a head kick.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Masters looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Cesar is staying active underneath Masters, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

And that's the end of the fight!
Abe Masters showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Masters, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
