This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the featherweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Los Angeles, with a TWGC record of 11 wins and 17 losses; Roman Boesku! And in the blue corner, fighting out of London, with a TWGC record of 35 wins and 21 losses; Rodney Holzken! The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Matheus Silva and Edson Gomes.
The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Holzken stuffs the takedown attempt from Boesku. Boesku gets slowly back to his feet. Holzken tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Boesku scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Boesku (2) vs (0) Holzken Holzken looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Holzken is pressing down on Boesku's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Holzken wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Boesku is now in half guard. Boesku is trying to control the action in half guard but Holzken is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Holzken wants to get back to full guard. Holzken is looking to control Boesku's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Holzken avoid being mounted? Boesku is trying to work for a kimura but Holzken is defending well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Holzken has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Boesku. Oh but Holzken has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Boesku goes limp - he's gone! Holzken jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!
