This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the bantamweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Hilo, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 1 losses; Zhang Jun! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Los Angeles, with a TWGC record of 23 wins and 25 losses; Mr Ward! The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Paul Gruel and Chris Saunders.
Let's get this grappling contest under way! Who will be victorious? Ward tries for a takedown but Jun sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Jun displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Ward. Ward tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Jun swivels and escapes. Zhang Jun has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mr Ward. Excellent takedown into side control there by Jun. Score +4 for clean takedown past guard: Jun (4) vs (0) Ward The referee asks Jun politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Jun prefers to stall for the moment though. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ward is looking to reverse the position. Ward is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Jun is looking to take a break and control but Ward is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Jun content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Jun seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Ward for as long as he can get away with. Jun's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Ward is looking for a sweep.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jun controlling from side mount. Jun continues to stall. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ward is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Jun's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Jun is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Jun is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Jun seems to be looking for submissions.
Jun is thwarting Ward's attempts to control the position. Jun is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Ward is just riding it out for now. Jun eventually gives up the hold. Jun trying to control the action but Ward is working from the bottom. Jun performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jun wants to lay and pray for a moment but Ward keeps working. Jun trying to pass the guard but Ward defending well. Jun controlling the action here. Ward is trying to get back to full guard. Jun with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ward is staying active underneath Jun, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Jun looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Ward wants to improve his position but Jun is controlling well.
Ward is refusing to be controlled, as Jun sits in half guard. Jun has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Ward defend it? Jun steps over the head and cranks it - Ward is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Jun!
