And in the blue corner, fighting out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 0 losses; Katelynn Arby! The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, George Francis and Stewart Dunkirk.
Let's get this grappling contest under way! Who will be victorious? Arby with a poor takedown and Gruff holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Gruff has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Arby clear over his head and slammed him to the mat! Gruff trying to secure his dominant position for a moment - making sure Arby doesn't escape. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. You can see the frustration on Arby's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Gruff has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Arby's body.
Gruff knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Arby on the ground.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gruff working for the choke. Arby rolls, trying to escape but Gruff keeps control of the position.
Gruff is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish. Arby trying to control the hands but Gruff breaks the grip.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gruff is trying to stick to Arby's back but Arby is turning into Gruff. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Gruff's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Arby. Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Gruff (4) vs (2) Arby Arby trying to control the position from guard on top but Gruff is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Arby passes into half guard. Arby looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Gruff definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Arby trying to control from half guard but Gruff is working away. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Arby is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Gruff sees it coming and defends easily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Arby is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Gruff doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Arby. Gruff won't allow Arby to pass to mount. Gruff is trying to control but can't.
Arby wants to take a breather but Gruff is having none of it. Gruff on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Gruff tries to get out of the position. Arby seems to be working for a kimura but Gruff defends the submission attempt. Gruff is looking to control Arby's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Gruff avoid being mounted?
That's four minutes gone in the round. Gruff is positioning himself well to prevent Arby advancing to mount. Gruff is staying active underneath Arby, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Gruff is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Arby seems to be looking for submissions.
Gruff tries to get to full guard but Arby has control of the leg. Arby has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Score +3 for passing guard: Gruff (4) vs (5) Arby Gruff is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Arby locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Gruff is forced to tap!
